The Tyranny of the Self Righteous

Postby *juggleblood* » Thu Mar 22, 2007 8:02 am

Abramelin the Master Mage gossips-- 'This seems strangely familiar. Truth is now level 40!'

gos wow Truth you've been having some shit luck with level loss lately

Where are your manners, sir?
You feel wonderfully miserable!

A little extreme no?

I also saw Seda join an exp group yesterday and force people to change their gjobs because she found them offensive.

Immorts need to chill on this issue pls.

it will never happen, it is at thier discretion to deem what is offensive or not.. hence thier postion as immort/admin.

we have a large % of players that are 11-16 and should not always have to listen to our krap..

i can say this because i can hardly refrain from being rude on gossip.. especially if Brad or Yinao is on

I can understand keeping it cool on gossip, and possibly even the gname. However joining a group then abusing immortal commands is nonsense. If a group is not going the way you want then do not follow. If say Doc had joined the group then politely asked to change gjobs thats no big deal. Using your immortal to tell players what to do in the group they start is bullshit. Sloth has become a socialist environment, what was once full of "innovative" playerbase has been reduced to rubble. This includes charm nerfs, dagger nerfs, the list goes on and on. I see alot of the smarter players leaving due to this. I thought the point here was to gain players, and not just bots (which is about all I see these days). Alienating the old school players is a good start.

The thing that that Rub is referring to is an autofilter for public channels. It has nothing to do with any immortal and is simply a set of code that looks for certain strings and filters them, then affects the character with a negative fortune. I think I got stung by it the other day, but I wasn't able to tell what I was affected with. Being reduced to 1 1 1 is as much a factor of luck as anything.

I won't comment on the group thing.

I have been hit by the auto filter too, but that subject was long ago swept under the rug. Im concerned about the group comment. Keith you need to stop pulling punches, stand up for your belief.

Ultimately, its a matter of perspective. Seda will naturally point to the rules, and the players will naturally complain. As an immortal, its her perogative how she enforces those rules, within the guidelines the creators give her. Human limitations not withstanding, but I'm not going to fault anyone for being human just yet.

I have no comment because the complaint ultimately stems from the manner in which the immortal handled the issue. That's assuming the original complaint didn't come from a person with a hot head, which it did.

In fact, the person with the original complaint could have just as easily chosen to speak with Seda on an immortal-to-immortal basis on immtalk, with the potential input of the other immortals even, instead of posting it to the crier and acting like the immortals are plotting against the players.

So, my assessment: Seda may (or may not) have handled the original issue poorly. Dragging it to the crier isn't helping. It doesn't give Seda any advice on alternate ways of handling it, allow Seda to present her side of the story, or give Juggle any insight as to why Seda would have handled it the way she did.

Worst case scenario: Foul on both sides, repeat the down, 4th and goal.

Heh, am I really that hot headed?

I mention it on the crier cuz its really not so big a deal. No one's gonna quit playing sloth cuz some immortal forced them to change their obscene gjob. I'm just asking for a lil more slack in this regard. If an imm wants to tag along with a group for fun, thats cool. But its kinda lame to then tell them what they can and can't say in their own group. It's just a game and the imms are playing it with us, so I don't see how I'm being inappropriate for talking about it on the crier. Lets not take ourselves too seriously.

The title of your post would suggest otherwise, but cool.

And that does not include changing people's gjobs. I don't give a **** if someone is a lady or not. You come to me, not me to you. If you would like me to change something, ask me, don't ever try to force me.
