Stupidest thing I've seen in a long time

Postby Avatar » Fri Jan 20, 2006 11:15 pm

I'm sure others have seen it already, but I just saw it tonight for the first time. So, of course I shift and blast blast blast, but when the fight is over there's no spellbook. I guess it's another example of a game making 'sense' but in the process it's less fun than chopping off your fingers one knuckle at a time. Are spellbooks just not rare enough around here?

Let me propose a theory, most spellbooks are magic and therefore should get bonuses to saves vs. spells. Also, most mages who write spellbooks might obviously enchant the book to resist fire.

Anyway, it's quite disappointing to find that my abilities to solo might also destroy the reason that I'm trying to solo. I've never seen a firewind destroy pops.

That's your fault for making a Th/Ba. What were you thinking?!

Er... Th/Ba is a very good combo. Tough to roll, cool to play.

Nice roll, whether its a decent classo could depend on the other two classes though. Thats all I'm gonna say about rolls...

Oh yeah...and get off the crack! 10mil for an ashen? Last pair I forged took about a week and I only play a couple hours a day. (actually, when they were 2-3mil I was just gonna buy them but now I think I'll just forge a pair for Xander...not like he can use them yet anyway.)

Reading this thread is liking having a conversation with my mother-in-law. We'll be talking about politics and she'll suddenly state, as though it's completely on-theme, "You know I really hate the way that the the next door neighbors dog keeps going through our garbage tins!".

How did we get from spells burning books to someone stats, and how did we get from their stats to the cost of Ashen bracelets? I feel like I'm in a cross between a Monty Python skit and a Salvador Dali painting! :)

Well clearly, breath weapons destroying stuff caused Leaf to delete any and all druid characters because of such an incredibly annoying feature and started a new th/ba. Then.. um.. oh yeah, he was looking into the future for +dam equipment and thus needed to buy some ashen bracelets. And now, for something completely different:

Destroyed items

Postby Avatar » Tue Jan 24, 2006 9:55 pm

So this dragon breath can destroy more than just spellbooks?

Is there any remote chance that this can be fixed? I'm about to start a new char and scrap this one. I'm trying not to curse.

Shapeshift bug cont.

Postby daedalus » Sat Jan 28, 2006 2:16 pm

I was just wondering if there is anything extra that i could do to get my eq back from this bug. It has been almost four days without a single reply. I was also concerned about how long it would take for me to get this solved. I would hope someone would atleast try to acknowledge this problem.

Thanks Daedalus

PS. If someone needs to find me i also play kail.

I lost a battered suitcase loaded with months and months of cps, eq, decanter, yadda, yadda, yadda. Could it have been stolen? Maybe, but not likely. It had corpses and at least a hundred items of varying weights. I'm not sure if this is related to the druid bug but was I the only one not aware that aggressive spells have a chance of blowing up eq (while unshifted)?

I generally never read the crier because, in general, it is just a bunch of whining. Yesterday, I did in desparation after I lost all my stuff. There was a post from Splork stating that fixes were made so that all aggro spells but acid would not blowup eq on saves. Of course, this would have been great information to have before I spent the previous hour or two acid showering eyeballs in the school of Chol. So I sign back on to have a conversation with Splork. I would have been better off smacking myself in the head with a hammer a few thousand times. Why so hostile (topic for another day)? He informed me that no eq would be returned that was lost due to spell saves. So really, I'm all bent that I lost my shit and then I have to listen to him tell me I'm an idiot since this is code that has been in the game for two years, etc, etc.

I have never been one to bash the immorts for changes they make for the greater good of the game. Hell, I even appreciate the shit they do. And I know that the immorts eat a lot of shit sammiches. My question is why bother? Why spend so much time working on improving a game for players to enjoy and then just take a dump on them when there is a ripple. I guess it must be on the order of Soup Nazism.

One more thing. If this bug is not a bug at all but an intentional adjustment to old code, does it make sense to blow up a container (like a robe or a suitcase) with all of it's contents? Seems way, way excessive.

You may ignore Brady's post for two reasons; 1) His suitcase was stolen so he was bitching about the entire wrong thing. 2) Acid shower has never destroyed eq, we are talking about druid forms and dragon breathes...

Enjoy,
Splork

Btw, the hostility results from:
1) You don't even realize we are ONLY talking about dragon breaths.
2) I told you there was a good chance it was stolen
3) Your gossip laying the blame for you being pthieved on me..
Brady:gossip and so i think some code that you just added is more likely the culprite: **
4) When all I was doing was removing a part of code I didnt like which actually helps everyone...
