Post Office

Postby *Splork* » Sun Nov 06, 2005 10:22 am

We have received alot of reports on a bug with the Post Offices being full. This is not a bug and we have already increased the amount of items allowed at one time to be shipped.

But some of you have chosen to ship silly items to pthiefs in an attempt to stuff their mailboxes. This has basically ruined ship for all of you since it has pushed the amount of shipped items to the max.

We will increase the amt of items allowed in ship once more, but if I see more people doing this, I will simply remove this code entirely and you guys will no longer be able to ship items.

Enjoy,

The pawnbroker tells you 'There is something wrong with shipping. Contact an immortal at once!'

well i suggest putting in an ability to refuse pacakges or send them back to sender...or at least put them into unclaimed yourself...pthief retaliation for killing them has been shipblocking already and so it would be dumb in turn not to expect the player to retaliate then against the pthief.

Why don't you tell the truth, Ezekiel?

I logged on yesterday morning as Jormungandr to find lutefisk from Ezekiel for a shipping fee of 5M. I told him that if he wouldn't unclaim I would shipblock him myself because it really makes no difference to me. He didn't respond, so I made a character named Sheep and sent him rations like I said I would. Please check my logs if you don't believe me. I only did this in retaliation.

I agree there needs to be a function to refuse packages. Filling someones mailbox with something tagged for millions of coins is a bit much. What ever happened to killing pthieves, whats up with all the new tactics that just ruin the game for everyone.

First of all...Jormungandr is not the first to ship block me. I did get so tired of the pthieves that i did ship block him. Albeit, it does not change the fact that lack of an option to refuse packages or simply drop into unclaimed could have solved this problem from the start.

While I may agree there one should be able to refuse a package, quite frankly, im getting very pissed off with everyone suggesting more stuff for us Immortals to do when all they would have to do is respect the system. We add something nice like shipping, a few idiots screw with it, and what does everyone suggest? Have the imms spend more hours adding safety measures.

Its getting to the point Id rather spend 2 minutes and yank the code then spend an hour adding precationary measures because of a few jerks.

Also note that when i did ship block I did not know of the limit that was imposed. Had I known, I'd have consulted Splork about the issue first.

Oh, and btw, some of you are probably missing items due to the fact I had to spend my own time and fix the system manually(basically doing a rollback).

I guess you can thank Ezekiel, the pthieves, and anyone else who felt they should mess with the system...

well i don't see why pre-emptive action coding to prevent abuse of the system (done in every other aspect of the game) can't be applied to this. I love how when something needs to get fixed it's either you get called a coimplainer, an abuser or threaten to be wiped. But i guess that's just the course of things. I mean it's not my flaw after all

Very true, I guess Gangrel should of known to prevent someone from creating a char named ship and sitting in the mail shop, or prevent some jerk from mailing 1000 iron rations and emploding the system, and...

Sorry, we code for what we think MIGHT happen. Its quite impossible to prevent all abuses from occuring.

And btw, don't lay the blame for this on the Immortals. You **** up, accept it.

If anyone screws with this system before we can fix it, they will be wiped. Case closed. No arguing about it.

Don't blame me for work you had to do because of coding inefficiency. Fix problems either before or after with coding and the problems are resolved...as i said...when you give pthieves (who already play the game shadily) the power to block somoene's shipping with a lev 3 newb...i think the burden falls on you...not on me...live up to your own mistakes and fix what's broken

Yes, I will live up to my mistakes, even though Ive never even seen this code.

Like I said, abusers will be wiped.

This really is not anyones fault. I dont think either of you guys intentionally wanted this to happen. Kiss and make up or you both get a firm spanking.
