Greetings, fellow sloths.
I've tried leading island exp (yes, exp) yesterday and it was marginally decent for a group of 6-8.
I've also led some island exp after the quest, so I have more, than 6 hrs of island exp, to analyze.
We've hit:
- Saurian Frontier
- Orc Mines
- Infernite Mines
- Argosian Wreckage
- Temple of Neptune (Amphitrite).
When compared to the usual SS exp run:
- Ogres
- Demon Web (the middle part, no upper)
- Ettins+adult rocs
- UD2
- Opera
- Chinchilla guardian
- Salazar
- a beholder - he got in the way,
the island areas yielded same or higher exp, even when hitting cold-vulnerable dinos with clubs on the island repeatedly.
I've made the following conclusions from that run, mainly that Island exp is neat:
* we can hit island for same exp as in SS, while popping some random cps only found on Island (e.g., cps for saurian sleeves, sabatons and a small +mr robe and other caster stuff)
* Saurian Frontier is excellent exp for a neatly set group of players: carry 1-2 mage primes here, avoid diplodocus and T-rex mom, and preferrably hit non-vulnerable mobs [moderately] aged. Have 3-4 monks/druids and just mow down the dinos with the trees. Have Dr, and keep going in outside areas until your monks beg you to stop or just go afk on you.
* island is the easiest place to regen mana thanks to Enea, which means you have to make manual breaks every few areas anyway.
Some areas I have considered, but haven't hit, include:
- Cicero's Prison
- Aaost - too thick?
- The Valley of the Old Ones - too low xp?
- Castle of R'Lyeh - hard hitting mobs?
- LAAAM - what is there, anyway?
One thing that I'd like to comment is that quick movement is crucial for higher exp rate. If you stumble in Neptune's temple, it gets abyssmally slow and low, especially, if you cap on Amphitrite.
If you know any decent exp mobs or have more suggestions on island exp, please write them here, I'll try them out.
Thanks.
P.S. For some reason only Hung mentioned Orc mines and Saurian frontier in the area questionnaire by Neptune:
