autoquest conventions

Please remember that it is convention to not discuss autoquests on gossip. No it's not a huge deal and no, we don't enforce it.

But it's a little ridiculous to me when people are cycling the grandmaster thug and offering the corpses on gossip.

I had to consider what to do with this 30 drachma autoquest that people are completing on other's behalf.

So here it is. If you get the killing blow on the grandmaster thug, and you've already completed the quest, he will make no corpse.

If this problem persists on other autoquests, I will be forced to take the same action.

tested:
Winds of Flame pour from your hands, killing the grandmaster thug instantly.
The grandmaster thug is dead! R.I.P.
Total exp for kill is 201887.
The grandmaster thug yells 'You fools, I'll take my secrets with me to the underworld!'
The grandmaster thug immolates himself! His corpse is reduced to ash.

...and yes I see that he is technically yelling while dead. There is no killer on every_corpse if that makes any sense / matters. It works.

Considering that I was cycling the thug... I thought I'd offer some input in why I did so.

The treasure chest (that the grandmaster thug pops the key to) loads tris, nugget of gold, and two items you cannot get any other way: golden helmet of life and the mace of blood.

If this corpse poofs, that's fine with me, but will you at least make sure that he drops the coins and key?

Thanks. I hadn't tested that. I had to remove the proc until I can get the coins transporting to the floor of the room correctly.

I think I like the concept tho, some kind of requirement that the quester be present at the time of the mobs killing.

What do you think about teasing out those 2 elite newbie items from the grandmaster's treasure chest and putting them into some kind of auto or forge?

Putting 30 drachma and 2 elite newbie items all the same mob is undesirable to me.

The items aren't elite. People cycle for those items to get the experience of doing so.

Another thing to think about. What about Valk groups that hit the grandmaster thug? Often, they'll have someone who has already done the quest. What if they strike the killing blow, but the newbie who needs the quest sees the corpse poof?

As for the items themselves - golden helmet of life is basically ebony helm of blood but with a better name (and easier to get apart from via a bigger player).

Mace of blood though, is definitely elite in my view for what it is, what it does, its restricts, and I'm sure others may disagree, but there's not really a better option for valkers (holy sword is 3d4 now, mace is 4d3). But again, it matches the stats of the mace of wrath (from SS Castle of Perseverance). There are also other options with stats on them, but for a real newbie, this is an elite item.

My recommendation would be to take these items off of the grandmaster thug chest (and replace them with boosted pop rates on the octs/hexes that also load in chest). Then move them off to the new forge mob in Valk town, making two new Valk forges/AQs for them... along with changing their stats a bit (boosting them or changing them around - improve them).

The Valk chemist also needs to be zoned and loadable in town unless he crashes mud. Valk chemist room is bare last I checked.
