Gem Question

I have a question regarding gem popping.

Last week I killed around 1250-1750 mobs solo. Most of these were ranging in corpse level from 36 to 42. I didn't pop a single gem. I wondered if some area's or maybe certain mobs that get run for xp have been flagged no_gem - if such a flag exists? My guess is at least 750 would have been corpse level 40 or greater.

Whats the story? Am I just unlucky?

I've only popped 3 gems solo since the entire reset.

well you've popped 3 havent you and you are only level 4x40, you still have a few more years to go till you are 8x40 so you'll probably pop 7 more, which is 2 runes if you do some trading, you are on your way to success.

Mobs appear to need to be level 40 or higher to load a gem, and according to a post at one point, # of hps affects the pop rate - so mobs you can solo have a really low rate right now. As you get higher level and cycle larger mobs, your odds will improve.
