Bring the "new since last" link back? It's still right there under "town crier" on that menu to the left. I've been using it since the new posts left the homepage.

There's actually a customizable menu on this site, and I use it and have done for a long time. It puts an additional menu box on the lower left hand side, and you can put whatever links in it you like, including external links. I have links directly to the chopping block, eq list, main maps page, and voting sites from there.

The way you set it up is click on the 'home' link that's on the top left menu right now, then on resulting page on the lower right you will see a box titled 'main menu'. Click on the link titled 'my account' in that box. On the resulting page, click on the link with a picture of a house above it, titled "Edit your home page".

Now just check the "Enable your personal menu block", and then write in HTML all the links you want to appear, for example:

If I were a newbie and read half the stuff the handful of majority posters post I wouldn't play, or even log on. Yes most newbies will be subjected to the same personalities online, but how's about we give them a chance to like the game and judge the asses after that rather than making them think everyone who plays is an ass and not even log on.

If you people really dont want newbies coming and want to run off anyone who might carry on Slothmud for another generation, then we can most assuredly shut it down and save you the grief, griping, bitching, and moaning. Why experience a slow death? Just end it with a single bullet....

Sheesh, I've been around 15 years, immortal for 5 (7 counting my previous stint on sloth2), and Ive never seen so many people take this fun game and turn it into something comparable to a job that is miserable and can find nothing better to do than bitch.

Hate me if you want, flame me if you must, make fun of me if you care, cause I dont. This is my piece and its all I'll say on the matter.

I support 100% the decision to change the home page. Could be because, other than this new thread, the only thread I care to even look at is the random pictures. Seems to be the only thread where it's not about "i hate i hate, its off to mud I go"

Seriously though, I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes or disrespect anyone's opinion, but I've offered a solution to this argument / discussion, and it's just been ignored.. seems a little weird.

For what it's worth, I think it's a great idea having the links to

I think some of you guys take these discussions too seriously. I try to bring serious debate and not nonsense and personal attacks. However that doesn't mean I let ex clan members run their mouths. I seem to help plenty of new players in game. If my actions on this message board greatly outweigh my actions in game then someone needs to tell me. BTW Dave its nothing personal I still sac to yah.

No worries, I think discussion is great, and political discourse is fine too. We are (most of us anyway) complex and thinking individuals. I'd much rather these sort of discussions here than on in-game gossip, that's for damn sure (not that I'm free of sin when it came to the pre-election frenzy). But if we want to expand the player base, the way the index page is now is a good way to do it.. rope them noobies in with the access links:

Speaking of hating, I want to apologize to someone. A week or two ago I was getting very frustrated with stupid non-popping mobs, and was trying to get the sash commander to load using Ferret (Ferret does not care about trivial things like honor). I logged Ferret off for a moment to get something with Weasel, and of course just my luck the sash reappeared and loaded during that time, and someone else was killing him when I arrived to check him. I think it was Xamak or someone like that? Anyway sorry for abusing you and tossing you into the wall dude. You got the pop anyway, and it loaded for me the next day.

stipulating I don't play nearly as much as I used to, the past couple times I've been around there's been on average 6-7 people? At least with the crier threads on the front page new players know there actually is some kind of community, even if it is an occasionally dysfunctional one that has a healthy interest in the human form (you can post beefcake Reb, noone will complain I don't think).

This is pretty much exactly why I dont want this thread on the front page of our website. Our numbers may be lower than we are used to but they have never averaged 7 or 8 during a boot up.

While I know everyone here and am used to this type of banter, I hardly think a new person visiting our website would give us two seconds of their time if they thought we had an average of 8 players on who constantly bickered and bitched like these threads show.
