Nice to see some minimalist views on here.
Its good to be contempt with what you have, there is nothing wrong with it at all. But we have to understand the other side of the issue too, that there are some people who are not, and would really like to have another class for numerous reasons, so if you are taking a stance that we have it good enough already - state why you think 6th class is NOT a good idea, and not how bad it would be if we had 1 class, or telling people to make a new char.

Is anyone really going to suffer if we add a 6th class, how is this bad for the mud ? So far the no valid arguments against the position.

6th class will be helpfull because:
1) All the people who really want to continue growing, will have the opportunity to do so.

2) It will bring old players back if there is a way to keep their char and eq but can level again

3) It will allow characters who realised that their class is not ideal to complement it.

4) People who started a char as a noob, and only realised later on that they have picked a wrong class would have a chance to (3)

5) It will allow characters to wear a wider range of EQ hence making items like diabolan military boots more useful, the areas with forgotten EQ will be run more as well.

And as for starting new character - it will not go anywhere, people will still try out new classes and start new characters, i just dont feel that it should be done because of desperation, but rather out of curiosity.

Why do you think a 6th class will take away that ? With more class variations, people will be even more inclined to start new chars as there will be more options!

And to Pooka, we had a 4 out of 4 system not so long ago, and yet everyone was still very different from each other - its not the x out of x, that counts, its the variation to the position of each class in the classo that makes the difference.

Im not advocating the full class mud as sloth has moved away from this. But addition another class, contrary to your belief will only add variation.

I think a small overhaul in the way exp/coins etc is handed out is in order. Perhaps the cset command could be implemented. Example below.

l <target>

cset <target> coins/exp/bonus 1

Now..with this command line..I have set the MOB's coins and exp to my liking. The 3rd argument is for either drachma or honor.

Also, upon making kill and collecting my treasure, the game could ask me...

<target> is dead. Would you like for it to load item upon reset? Type "Y' or "N'

This would be awesome additon and I hope it would go in.

ps-If you vote, be sure to pick choice #3 because.....<drumroll>

It doesnt matter what we do anyway

I had an idea similar to this about 8 yrs ago...however, you cant just keep adding classes because some people get 'bored'...what happens after that? we add a 7th, then an 8th?...no...

what would work is this(especially with this honor system we have now): you earn your rank or whatever, get your 50,000 honor points, etc. and you earn the right to be inducted into an 'honorary' class(like ranger, paladin, knight, shaman, sorcerer)-no levels, no more hp/ma(maybe a ONE time bonus for entering the class like +50hp/+35ma)...

what you DO get is a new set of skills/spells, that you then earn by performing specific deeds, quests, and/or xp tokens to EARN those extra skills/spells to compliment the ones you already have--

as much as I hate to use the term 'realistic', lets face it--even if your a freakin elf that lives 1000yrs, how many occupations can a body truly excel at in one lifetime? you know what I'm sayin?

I know a 28 year old Jamacan that has 4 jobs. Why shouldn't an 1000 year old elf know how to do more than your average bear. Now if you wanna throw the arguments that humans don't live that long on average, I would counter that youth potions would allow one to live infinitely as long as he/she didn't meet an unfortunate end.

How again is an 'honorary class' NOT an extra class choice? A turd by any other name is still a piece of sh*t*

Just make a new character already and be done with it.

Hey just because a person has 4 jobs doesn't mean they do any of them well.

Also, to keep up with times, since we already get honor and drachma, we should also get carbon footprints for ridding the game of methane producing beasts.

Uhhhl is dead.
You receive 1000 honor points.
You receive 1 drachm.
You receive 250 carbon footprints.

I don't see why one out of the four unused classes would make it overpowered. Four might, but one not so much. I would make it cost 10 tokens and 30 mil gold to get one level. You would get 1 hp or 1 ma or 1 mv per level (1 hp 1st level, 1 ma 2nd level, 1 mv 3rd level, 1 hp 4th level...etc.) Caps for healbonus, blastdam, undead control, etc would all be capped as a 4th class.

BTW: I didn't lose steam on this subject, I can't code and I wouldn't push such a project unless it was me putting forth all the effort. Besides, I thought it was too much of a longshot so I was going to just drop it. But since it's out here, I'll post my thoughts. :)

The whole idea of adding a 6th class isn't because people are bored. There's plenty ingame to buy at avatar. The problem I have is we went from a 4 of 4 class system to 5 of 9, and it kinda sucks. It was the one thing I thought ROCKED on Sloth. I really don't think it would overpower characters... I think it might actually balance everyone.

ok, so we start by shooting the weasel and that's one problem solved.

seriously, for a long time I though it would be nice to have another class but now I dont play so much anymore so it's not a big deal. iirc though, when this was brought up long long ago, I'm pretty sure there was a claim about character data structure not really being set up for another class, now I dont know how hard it would be to change that but it sounds like a nightmare to me.
