Drunk changes

Postby madmax » Tue Jan 01, 2008 9:48 am

Hey all,

I rarely get on a soapbox, but i feel at the moment that I must. Last night (New Years Eve), while in my vault, I gorged once with the fountain (A Tap of Beer). When this happened, I immediately became Practacally Drunk.

I could not effectively play at that point, without risking serious death. So I AFK'd in the vault for almost an hour, which would be 2+ days in MUD time. Then, for safety's sake, I rented.

First of all, Renting _should_ allow enough time to remove the drunkness. Provided the renting time is greater than 2 hours (4 MUD days.)

After a long night at the Inn, when I logged back on, was STILL extremely drunk. Not that this game is all about reality, but come on. How long would a Beer drunk last, 3+ days?

From what I can tell so far, with just letting it pass with time. It takes about 2 .5 hours of r/l time, or 5 days in MUD time. Personally I think this is one of the more "questionable" addiitions to the MUD lately.

Am I rambling or does anyone else have the same opinion?

Frankly I would like to see it removed all together. My tank got drunk last night and there was NOTHING we could do about it. Cleanse didn't even work. I even tried to brew the "cure" and it did NOTHING. It is just an addition that messes with play is all. There is no reason to keep it in the game when it disrupts play like it does. It becomes not just minorly annoying like some but group breaking when there is no cure for it

If not curable, it should at least wear off like other diseases do after a reasonable amount of time. A reasonable amount of time is NOT hours and hours of real time.

Actually I like this idea. I'm certain many mudders have gotten drunk in RL,
fell, punched "stuff", got in fights etc... and didn't really "feel" any pain.

So in the "world of Sloth", maybe adding some damage reduce points to
ppl that are drunk. Their Int & Wis should drop, but also add some Str.
Again, I know ppl that have gotten drunk and received some Super Power
strenght!!!

the changes to drunk are fine. What is not fine is that feast creates alcohol and gorge automatically consumes it.

Want to fix the problem?

Make feast not create the alcohol and make gorge not drink from fountains.

I think the intent was to make people actually look before feast/gorging. The way this has been put in however just makes the game less fun for a lot of people.
