Score Suggestion

Postby 13 » Tue Dec 11, 2007 11:11 am

I think it would be neat if your honor (gained or current) showed in your score/finger list
also drachma gained would be cool to see in finger
The perfect blend of poetry and meanness..

When honour first went in, I asked Dave if there was a chance it will show up on score. He said score is already messed up with so much spam already and it was unlikely.

As for honour under finger, interesting, but I don't see the point.

Cheers

Maybe split the score command? Score parameters...

score
score spells
score character
score stats

Most of the time, when I type score... I only want to know one piece of information... so why not parameter it out and stop the spam?Just an idea after reading that comment.

Laugh.

Although score stat shows your spell dam, uc, etc right now so yeah.

On the other hand that sounds like alot of work for coders, considering all you have to do is hit rank to see your honour without spam :)

how about just add it to 'rank who' ...so, like finger, you can only see values of those who are online at the time.. and then it's relevant to the command too.

It's not just a question of seeing honor in score. There is too much stuff in there already, as some immortals have pointed out.

Oh you meant your own individual rank score? How hard is it to type 'rank', seriously? If that's too hard for some, then add it as an option to prompt so those who wish to have lots of spam can do so.

I know your being sarcastic there weasel, but you actually bring up a good point... as a programmer, and project manager... I know what it's like to be nagged at for program features. But if idea's are good... honestly I don't personally care if it's a lot of work. With the amazing and probably large amounts of work Akasha has put into the epic system, maybe he feels the same way. Of course what one thinks is a good idea, one will always think is a stupid idea.

Some may disagree with me on this... but once a program has been in development for a lot of years... it becomes fragmented. Different systems tend to overlap and they don't work well with each other.

We have report, score, finger, rank, who, prompts, etc etc... All these commands overlap, and whenever a new feature is added... it's often added to one command and not the other.

If you REALLY want to fix things... and hey, I'm not saying anything is broke... I don't actually have any honor in sloth *blush*... the best way is to make one centralized management system, that can work for all commands. Basically all player variables can be easily added to prompts, score, finger etc etc by use of dynamically adding scripts. It's work to setup, but it kind of makes things "fixed forever."

I do that a lot in my line of work, because you just learn, managers change there minds every few days about things. Centralising ideas, grouping them, and allowing for easy management always wins the day in the long run.

Yup, thereby minimizing the number of commands, and allowing users to individually tailor, much as we currently do with prompt.
I love php and CSS for that very reason - so easy to make changes.
