The time draws near for the first installment of the Epic Starter Package.
Some rumors have been spreading, and there has been some gossip along the grapevine about epic mobs. I'd like to take a moment to clear up what is going to be happening over the next 2 weeks leading up to a minor quest and finally the incorporation of a new system on sloth that will provide you with an open-ended, story-driven system through which to progress beyond your current class system.
The Epic Army System (as I call it) is an idea that was born from the Celestial Quest I ran over the summer. I also discussed the idea on gossip a couple of months ago to feel out interest.
Basically this system is a RANK BASED system through which you will be able gain ranks (which I will not disclose at this point) by gaining Honor.
Honor will be gained through a number of different methods.
1- through newly designed autoquests, refered to as Honorquests (HQs).
2- by killing Epic Mobs, which are mobs that are of an increased difficulty level beyound almost anything currently in the game. These epic mobs will be of the same level of difficulty as mobs you would normally find during an immortal ran quest. These mobs however will be permanently ingame (in various ways).
3- A new system called an Event System. Events are mini-quest occurrences that will take place based on specific requirements, and will be mud generated (without any immortal intervention). The events will play out in a predetermined time period, after which time they will end. As of this starter package, you will not be required to partake in Events when they happen. Later, once the story evolves, Events may become difficult to avoid. The mobs in these Events have predetermined goals and seek to achieve those goals through whatever means neccessary.
This system is designed to allow for growth and evolution based on you (the players) actions and desire. There is a main plot through which all stories will run, but the actual stories involved within that plot are written as you progress through the storyline. The story itself though, has no real ending.
This system is also designed to make it easier for enterprising immortals to be able to run quests at any time with mobs that are already designed to be quest-level mobs that exist in a plot line already.
Some of the questions I have fielded about this system already are:
Is it soloable?
ANSWER: Not really. There may be some instances where the system can be soloed (legitmately). But the system overall is geared to be a grouping system.
What will happen to old autoquests and drachma system?
ANSWER: Nothing. This epic system has been fully incorporated into the current autoquest and drachma system. Drachma quests however have become easy and plentiful. Drachma quests are also 1 and out setups, meaning most are not replayable. The Epic System is "mostly" repeatable, but as with autoquests, Honorquests will not be repeatable due to the nature of the quests. And NO, old autoquests will not give you Honor.
The starter package will include:
An array of mobs from which the stories will evolve and grow with more to be added later.
A sampling of honorquests and events, also more to be added later.
The entire system will open up a new array of concepts for you to explore and learn, all based within the currently existing world of Sloth.
This is all I'll say for now, but the time is growing nearer. I plan on installing the starter package on November 4th, in mid-afternoon. No definite times have been scheduled yet.
Keep tuned here for more information over the next couple of weeks.
