[off topic] Win fun and prizes helping me code! :)

I'm willing to offer sloth coinage (up to a few dozen millions) or some nice eq from the Sheng Vaults to anyone who gives me good advice and/or help on my current project. Obviously, the reward would depend on how helpful I decide your contribution is.

I'm part-owner and head developer for a little start-up company hosts a (browser based) ASP application which aids small businesses and franchises in communication, coordination, and collaboration. Our next big add-on will be a system that allows our users to receive email inside the system. (Think hotmail.com, etc)

I don't have anyone with experience setting up an email server, or integrating it with an ASP application. The most obvious answer I can think of is to have the email server write the emails to the hard disk, then a script to import them all into the SQL Server db. Besides making my head hurt, that solution also sends off the 'warning, I'm completely clueless' flag.

If anyone has successfully done something like this, I'll gladly take any feedback (and reward the useful ones). You can, of course, spam the sloth forum with your know-hows, or email me: kmccuistion@hopstechnology.com

Do you have your own server, or are you using a hosted server? Unix? Windows?

couple of links that may help if this is what you;re after:

Right now we're on a shared server (windows), but we'll be moving to a dedicated server as soon as we can afford it, or if it's required to get the email thing working.

I had already checked out webmailasp.net, it looked promising because I'll have the source code to play with, so I should be able to get the data into any database in any format I want.

Aspemail seems to be for sending email, which is rediculously easy in ASP.Net. That part of the application is already working fine :)
