[quote="Weasel":3bvni8wc]BTW, WTF has that got to do with teaching noobs how to play sloth? Please don't start that bollox of posting unrelated cr@p in random threads again..

yes, I realize the thread had already been hijacked, but I don't care.

(this was initiated in response to a post from Tap which has since been deleted)[/quote:3bvni8wc]

Most of Weasel's posts make about as much sense as this one does. Please don't post 'unrelated' stuff in 'random' threads?

I thought we hate noobies anyway. Let's look at different strains of thought on the education of newbies.

Medios - Don't help them, it only spoils them.
Alias - Let them join the group and die over and over and be raised over and over until they wander off again. Chuckle politely.
Yinao - Let them watch you solo the Eternal Flame.
Firebrand - March them around Theris a few hundred times.
Gimlet - Ask them to join you. Then inexplicably leave when you realize they suck.
Talk to the clown.

ooh, juggle, you forgot my tactic to dealing w/ annoying newbie players......

1. sound happy that they are talking to you....real happy.....
2. suggest really retarded ideas that any newb can tell would not be a good idea.
3. annoy them by giving them worse eq than they already have on.
4. bug them till they leave.......
5. show them the wonderful usage of shadowwalk and gate till they flee back to vk.

:)

(normal newbies can still ask for help...these tactics don't apply to you unless I've given you a suit of leather armor)

I never said that I do not help noobs. I just don't agree with the welfare system. It makes people lazy. I have always shown people how to do stuff on their own and then let them goto work. Instead some people want to cycle all the noobs eq and sbs so that way they won't learn anything except botting in ss and bh groups.
Fight the Good Fight!

An oath for Sloth III

Do you <insert newbie name here> solemnly swear by the somewhat mighty god Krom and the other sporadically present imms of Sloth III that you will mud obsessively to the exclusion of a social life the detriment of relationships and and spurn all attempts to limit the time you spend logged on.
Do you swear to mud on Sloth III, mud only Sloth III and forsake all other muds keeping true to Sloth III.
Do you swear not to multiplay, not to pkill, not to bot either solo or in groups, not loot players corpses, not to smuggle temp equipment and to hold dear to yourself and keep true all other rules and laws of Sloth III.
Do you swear to learn your own runs, look up the stats of equipment yourself and always keep a recall handy.
Do you swear not to steal kills, hit mobs already being cycled nor falsly claim to be already cycling a mob in a vain attempt to steal a run.
Do you swear as a newbie to take some responsibility for learning how to play, find your own spellbooks, equipment, coins and tokens without expecting everything to be handed to you on a plate.
Do you swear as a more experienced player to help newbies, to give serious answers to thier questions, not to ridicule their lack of knowledge and remember the help you received when you were a newbie.
Do you swear to not ask for nor give answers to autoquests on gossip.
Do you swear to take some responsibility for retrieving your own corpse when dead and not expect others to do all the work for you every time.
Do you swear to find and raise dead players whenever you can and help with corpse retrievals when necessary.
Do you swear that when grouping you will keep the protection chain fixed at all times, not to hoard mana, to blind blindable mobs and cast other debuffs blasts or heals as necessary, to be attentive to the laeder at all times, not to leave a group while there are dead members, to keep my autoloot off, my autosplit on, to accept that deaths are occassionally inevitable, not to whine at or spam the group, not to autosac and not afk for extended periods.
Do you swear as a group leader to keep the group together, to keep the group alive, not to ridicule newbies nor more experienced players unfamiliar with a run or area but to inform and educate them so they can grow and be more productive.
Do you swear as a group tank stay on point, to whine your hp, to rescue the stabber without them singing, to rescue all others when they do sing, to be the first in and last out of a fight and accept that you will die occasionally never fleeing or running from a fight until all others are away or the mob is dead.
Do you swear as a group stabber to stab hard, stab fast, stab on follow and on qstab, to buy your own poisons, and ensure you maintain moves.
Do you swear as a group healer to keep the tank alive even though it be at the expense of your own life and to raise all deads.
Do you swear as a pet owner in a group to flee all pets never stealing the kill when cycling xp.
Do you swear never to sac corpses you find lying around and never to have an autosaccer.
Do you swear not to spam on gossip, shout, channel, yell, newbie, grouptell or any other means of communication.
Do you swear to be respectful to all players, never acting vindictively, insultingly or with a sense of malice, never acting in a bullying or harassing manner.
Do you swear to accept that you will be bantered with and that what you may take offence at may have been intended as humour.
Do you swear to accept that Sloth III will change over time accepting that not all changes will be to your advantage.
Do you swear to ridicule the use of of STFU as an overused cliche and not to whine, nor call anyone a whiner.
Do you swear to write your own scripts or when you can't to at least understand your own scripts and know how to turn them off when they fail.
