Trip 40 equipment changes

I've been trying to talk the imms into changing the way the 5x40 gear has been run for like 7 years. What I would like to see are different catagories of what you could put on an avatar light. You cannot choose two of the same choice on a avatar light, it has to be two different choices.

1: +5 mana regen
2: +3 of any stat
3: +2 damage
4: +50 mana
5: +50 hitpoints
6: +25 hprg
7: +75 moves
8: +15 mvrg
9: -.4 ac
etc.. it's an avatar light, it should be tough

If he was really appreciative of your accomplishments, he would allow you to name your pieces of eq.

Just replying to get the original thread name back, for those people who don't read every thread with a million responses.

I agree that giving the +dam to a held low item has somewhat invalidated the scarab forge. Sure, I understand that already having the scarab frees up another 3x40 item we can use.. but its still kinda annoying.

Oh... and in all fairness, I told Auto that he wasn't a real thief because he sucked... not because he didn't have a scarab.

Some of the new tri40 eq is awesome!...theres a few things I'd still like to see, but way to go-much needed! It also got me thinking, that in the past I've also seen overlapping eq discrepencies, like a med_quest item becoming lesser as an ingame item becomes better, etc...I think before the other categories of eq are modified/evolved(as they eventually will be), its most important to decide first and foremost, how powerfull each type of eq should be in relation to the other, in other words their power needs to be ranked...for example, and this is just at first glance, #1 being the weakest, I can see something like:

1-in game eq
2-low_quest
3-forges
4-med_quest
5-elite eq
6-3x40 eq
7-high_quest
8-5x40 light

some of these may be switched around..the idea is that once its decided which of these groups is supposed to be more powerfull then the other, etc...then you can begin to alter them so we don't have conflicts such as hard forges getting bumped by in game eq and other situations like that...

New AC

Postby Avatar » Mon Aug 27, 2007 9:12 pm

Weasel, we just got .6 boots. Can't expect 1 new area to have 7 items with beyond current in-game AC :) I just hope that new AC items aren't all high-end forges. It's gonna be hard enough to hit -13 without adding a list of forges to complete :)

Thanks for your work Krom on the 3x40 gear. I'm with the others, though, when they ask for 5x40 lights to be looked at next!
[quote:1wwflde4]7) Arcane Tome of Power: held low .5 ac +1 dam +8 mv regen [/quote:1wwflde4][/color:1wwflde4]

I agree with all the 3x40 eq changes.. save this one.

I must say, this is dissapointing to see. For years the only low dam was a horribly difficult forge requiring weeks of cycling. Most would agree that forging a scarab was a right of passage for most thieves in Sloth. I can remember a few years back that Medios & Deju were teasing me "if you don't have a scarab, you're not really a thief!". I would have to agree, and for that reason of gaining respect of my peers meant that I too must quest for such an item. Any bot can get to 3x40, just because you have the XP does not mean you have the experience. There are many lowbie thief chars out there whom have nfc wtf they are doing and still do not understand the concept of attaining 18/100 str.

Also, before I bother to start. Is there going to be an equivalent made also to make the Ars-Magic useless in the future as well?[/quote:1wwflde4]

The idea is, like shazuko points out, that the trip40 eq is better than forge items, for instance the feathered cincture forge vs. the tooled girdle, the admantium cuirass vs. 2.5 ac forged armor, the tower shield vs. forged shields, etc...You get a really elite piece of eq for achieving the levels, and as you know I have been working on making damage items for thieves (and in this case monks too) more accessible.

We spent quite some time on the damage item to add, originally it was some .5 ac 1 dmg 15 spell boots, but later opted to go with a rework of the existing held low tome. I like the item, but maybe the ac is a bit on the high side -- ill toss around the idea of reworking it to .4 ac 1 dm 10mvr maybe.

I also think the girdle will be adjusted to +2 to hit pre-implementation.

For the quint40 lights--I can take a look at that next.

Thanks for the updated eq but where's the love for the druids? We seem to be the red headed step children around here :p In the last update for the drachma eq, there were a bunch of necro stuff and spell dam eq for casters but there wasnt one shiftable eq available. Even the hooves which are meant to be for druids arent even shiftable. Aside from that I think the stone token is the only item which is a slight upgrade from ars for about 1k drachma. I hope this message isnt perceived as bitching and whining. I just dont want you folks up there to forget about us. Ginger kids unite!

Overall, a couple of items were meant for certain classes, and the maple leaf did get a little bit of an upgrade for druids, but the items were kept generic with broader appeal. It was just too difficult to tailor multiple items for each class, and to keep these items current would also be a challenge.

I can feel for the issues with Druid, as the problems are similar with Cleric prime.

I don't agree that 3x40 eq should necessarily be better than forge eq. Forging high-end eq is infinitely more challenging than sponging xps.
