I am not an equal opportunity leader

Postby van » Sat Jul 21, 2007 2:53 pm

I've been getting a lot more whining than usual in my groups about fairness, equality, and the American way. So let me clear a few things up:

1) Leading is work.
2) Yes, I'm greedy.
3) Following me does not entitle you to be as greedy as I am.
4) If I'm leading, I get final say on who calls what.
5) If you don't like it, lead your own groups.

Differing leaders have differing styles. This is mine. In any event, keep in mind to appreciate all leaders, and don't treat them like a public resource there for your benefit.

Cheers!
-Van

P.S. If I ever lead a quest group that gets eq, the above comments go out the window and I'll be as fair as you want. :D

Van is one of the most fun an entertaining leaders on the mud.

I can imagine the said idiot was making an attempt at his/her own self gain at Van's expense.

There are lots of knucklehead leaders on sloth. Some of which do some really sh+tty stuff.
I cant even think of one instance where I have seen Van do anything even close to being unfair. In fact hes one of the more generous leaders Ive grouped with.

I think if you let someone believe that they are calling something, then they should actually get it when it loads. If you're looking to keep it, be up front about it right off the bat, before they waste their time thinking they're cycling for it. That's pretty much all I have to say about that.

Yes Aaron your leading skills are also worthy of mention.

Your groups where you decide spam loot all the coins, and inform the group members to deal with it or they can leave. Ive not grouped with you since you did that, and will not in the future.
I think its even dirtier that you did something like that with clan members in the group.
Your clan members should not be there for your own personal gain.
Really defeats the purpose of what a clan should be.

Your eq groups where you afk just about the same time stuff starts to pop for OTHER people in your group. Or in general you lead a group and afk with no warning and void out. Perhaps you are more the second than the first.

I dont think you have much moral ground to stand on when taking shots at other leaders ethics.

Although it could be said it takes one to know one.

My anger at you Aaron is that you have done far more to rip me off, than you ever have bothered to assist me, and or work together on the mud. So before you decide to flame me to make up for actual things you do, take a second and think.

Though to respond to your comment. There is no doubt if what you said was true, thats totally sh+tty to do in group. If thats what you did Van than I made a rush to judge you as good leader. Ive seen you hog a pop before, but it would be an uncalled. To rip a called pop from a player defeats the purpose of having an eq group, and is completely unacceptable.

I wasn't aiming that at anyone at all. It's just my take on the leading/eq situation. Sometimes I do go afk and forget I was even playing the mud because a neighbor or friend comes over. Sometimes I have shit to do with my kids. All of which take precedence over some silly 15 year old text game. I didn't split a couple times because I needed money and the two guys with me needed xp and, after asked, didn't care at all. You joined up after the group started. I really don't care enough anymore to get in an argument about it. I can guarantee that I have spent more time leading than probably 85% of the people on Sloth. I'm worn out with it and I'm worn out with you and your fu cking crying about clerics and quest eq and getting 'ripped off'. Clan quit is a good command that might benefit you cocksucker.

Have a nice day

For my part, I always need XPs more than I need coins or EQ. I've attended several groups where we allowed one person to loot and not split, if that person needed the cash badly. I don't mind, especially if this person doesn't also call a mob for eq.

I don't remember who the specific leaders were in the groups where I've participated in this. I would be even more willing to donate my share of coins to a clan member, too.

Everyone already knows that if you don't like a leader, you don't have to follow them. As a leader, I usually tried to keep my followers as happy as I could because I'm not going anywhere too fast without them. I didn't always succeed, but you can't keep everyone happy all the time. Just doesn't work. Never hurts to try though.
