I think you're correct. I wouldn't have any heartburn if that was changed.

As of now, I know that Protection From Evil defends against demon bind, curse/damn, and spells that have these affects, like demon touch and hellstrike. Neither affects slow or silence, but I think they're what make Narmer and Galio so hard to damn.

Mindbar defends against a pretty wide array of stuff. I know blindness is on the list, I think silence is. Sleep might be. Not sure if slow would apply as a mind effect.

Webs has resist webs of course. Dispel magic has spell shield... for as long as it lasts. Reflection is its own defense.

There's no protection I know of from slow or crimson scourge other than resonance/dispel. Same for weaken.

There's no defense at all against a nightmare.
