Urm are you quite aware that the command 'steal' doesn't work on players anymore? Your reply suggests that you don't know that, considering you are so hyped up on getting pthieves. And triggers? For what? Why would I log in a pthief char if I can't do anything with it accept get killed?

I don't lose anything, you're not even a frequent leader on this MUD. In fact you're probably incapable of doing that. The rest of the leaders in this place happen to enjoy helping newbies instead of suspecting everyone who is able to steal under avatar levels is a pthief and someone you can't trust.

The only thing lost here is your trust in people in this MUD, thanks to pthieves. And I'm not even sorry for that because it's a dumb thing to do to stop trusting everyone else just because a couple of people did something that pissed you off.

Here's my point of view, having been on both sides of the law on sloth for much of my time here.

As a former pthief, I'd gladly offer any pthief the chance to "reform" and integrate back into the mud community if they show the desire to do so. However, setting rules that grants a blanket general pardon to all of them just because stealing has been disabled is ridiculous. They chose their actions, they pay the consequences regardless. Of course they should be left alone if they seriously wish to mud proper again.

There's a difference between pthieving, and general harassment as people like hades have been doing.

For them to rub it in while this temporary ruling is in effect, disqualifies them from any goodwill from fellow mudders.

You're not going to let a child-sex-offender into your house just because he's been chemically castrated, this shouldn't be any different.

An immort (Akasha) has stated very clearly how things stand right now, so there is little point arguing about it:

Pretty simple - if it's a known pthief char, kill it. If it's not a known pthief char, don't kill it.

From the wording, you pthieves will need to create -new- characters to play straight. Yes, this still allows playas to make a whole hoard of new pthief-ready chars in anticipation of the removal of the no-pthieving restriction. Hopefully pthieving will never be permitted again and this will become a moot issue. If it is allowed again, no doubt all hell will break loose. In the meantime, I'm thankful pthieving is gone and I will not pkill any newly created chars, even if they are being played by a pthieving human. At the same time, logging on a new char and taunting everyone that they can't pkill you is pretty much going to guarantee a solo career for you on sloth, and no doubt some will take time to web you, blind you, and generally make your time online difficult, so why bother being a smartass about it.

hey yASSix: i play requiem, a lev 20 bard prime. are you going to pk him just because he has the bard class? although i have never been nor will ever be a pth are you condeming him to web/blind/kill just for his classo? if so, watch your back. i will treat all of YOUR chars as pths as well. remember, what comes around, goes around.

My understanding was that known alts of a pthief are fair game. In other words, we have been allowed to kill other characters used by a pthief in the past. Could you clarify this Akasha?

That's what I figure too, but I'm hoping I understood the message incorrectly.

If "Bo" is the pthief who steals from me, I'm not angry at "Bo". I'm angry at "Henry" who might be the human that plays the pthief character. It's the human who is the scum that destroys my enjoyment of the game by stealing eq from me.

It's like saying that one of my characters has something stolen, but I can't use another character to hunt the thief. Like if I log out one character and play another, I won't be upset anymore because I'm not playing the character who was looted. That's pretty silly.

The characters weren't abused by the pthieve rules, humans were.

I think enough is enough. Its getting to be silly on both sides of this pthief coin.

Any pthief seen on the mud, in pthief form or when it is figured out what their new or old alt chars is, should be given equal and fair treatment.

Web, blind, sleep. I figure its only fair to disrupt a pthief/persons gameplay, as much as they have bothered to disrupt others. To think you can walk in with a new char and enjoy the game you tried so hard to mess up is laughable.

To expect anything less is foolish and stupid.

Even if pthieving turns into something of the past permanently, the arguments regarding the treatment of these players will never stop. Some are going to tell others not to help these people, some will feel it's unfair for them. It all goes back to how so many players on this MUD love telling people what they think is right and calling everyone else a dumbass because others don't agree with them.

Anyway, though this statement seems to bring a lot of truth, I find it funny how Al gets accepted back in the game.

If you can use that analogy to describe pthieves, then you're clearly referring to yourself as one of them. The only difference between you and I in this context is that I'm a child-sex-offender who got castrated a day ago, while you were one who has been released sometime ago and did some rehabilitation and community service. Does that mean I'll be accepted again if I started being nice to everyone on a new character?

Contrary to what a lot of you think, I'm not trying to be a smartass at all. When I start telling everyone about a new rule that they can't pkill me, all I'm trying to do is to get responses and to see how the MUD would treat me as a normal player. Now that I know how so many of you think I should just shut up about my identity and start a new char, that's precisely what I'll do.

Lastly, Mosaix, "web, blind, sleep" would be a rather silly thing to do. I'm protected under all rules of a normal player so that would be considered harrassing me and you may be warned for it. Once again, not trying to be a smartass, but someone webbed me yesterday in Valk and Akasha dispelled me. Just sharing a bit of info with you.
