Couple of questions

Postby Lone » Wed Feb 14, 2007 10:46 pm

Does anyone know how mana is distributed by level. Reason and I both gained level 6 cleric as a secondary class. He gained 3 mana and I gained 2. Furthermore, I gained 3 mana when i leveled my third class mage. Should second be less than third?

Also does this have something to do with class ordering?

Oops i forgot to state that i have 18 int, so thats the same too.

Mana gain per level is based on class order. It would seem that mage/necro
primes would gain the most upfront depending on their placing but having a caster/caster/caster/caster would give maximum bonus if stacked just right.
A non-caster prime gains some mana but I seem to notice that its not unheard of for a higher level mage tert/quad to gain vey little mana-wise.
So before you level up any further, consider if your classo is ideal for what you seek. If not, you can use it as a spare char to tinker around with. And by tinker I mean steal from other pc's.

Yeah im pretty happy with my Classo so far. I'm running a Dr/Cl/Ma/Ba. I like the fact that i can shapeshift and run solo sometimes. I also have the capacity to run in groups and cure with good mana regen. I was just curious why i would gain less mana. So far i'm only levels 12,6,4,1. It's really slow going but still fun. Anyway - if anyone has some more specific answers i'd be happy to hear them

Generally speaking, Mage and Necros get more mana than Clerics and Druids per level, who in turn get more mana than Bards. Monks only get a little mana for prime and secondary and Warriors and Thieves get no mana ever.

This is modified by where in your classo these classes are. Since you're a druid prime and cleric secondary, it's possible that your friend is a necro or mage prime and has a fraction more mana for his prime levels than you do, causing the rounding to be different for total mana.

More curiosity

Postby Lone » Fri Feb 16, 2007 3:00 pm

So i just recently made it to level 14 which gives me access to the tree form. The benefit is supposedly that mobs won't attack you, however this comes with a price: move drains from about 30mvs tops to 0 while in the form. In addition to this the tree form is given an ac of +10. From what i can tell the tree hits harder than the drake probably 1d10 instead of 1d8 since i get a few rare "very hard" hits. On the "plus" side to this form is that you're granted about 440 hps. This sounds nice except with the 10 ac i'm still limited to killing elderly men or perhaps two of them if they happen to be in the same room (one bugbear kills me). So I guess my point is, what use is this? It seems to help only in one situation:

A large group of mobs that only attack once per round for lets say 1d4. Considering this is limited to ferrets why would i want to be a tree? i think of no use for it in the field, especially anywhere that has high movement requirements - like tiger glen. Anyone have any ideas?

There is alot of shifts that doesn't do any good. I believe if its in a aggro
area where mobs wonder, u can either shift ferret or tree and be "safe".

All the shapeshifts have a skill that can be useful. Tree is used during combat when you wish the fight to stop. Many druids will shift into a tree, which makes them stop fighting, then shift back to resanc or reblind a mob. Tree doesnt help much soloing. Your main shift benefits will come at double 40 with naga, until then your going to struggle.

Hum... from my last understanding ...
Fighting and then trying to shift is hard and the % doesn't work well.
Or if ur shifted fighting, shift back, and shift tree = dead by then.

Tree is like disengage in a way, and it also puts you as the last person to enter the room which helps for spectral shield.
