sigh normally i ignore these "i am down/group down" messages on crier but this morning i am gonna be an ass and ask the obvious questions: does no one use ingame player-created channels (hosers/russians/dragonsworn/any other that might be listed when typing chann) and drop them when they die so someone else can ping/vis/gos "firebrand cf'ed her group again" "vanyel is dead"? does no one have any instant message progs - icq/trillian/aim/msn msgr/windows live msgr/yahoo msgr/any others i didn't list here and have friends ingame as buddy list members they can i.m. for help? it would seem to me that by the time you posted "help! i'm down" and someone else sees the post, there would be a corpse out......just my two cents for the morning *goes back to her coffee and realizes she is not awake yet*

Trying not to state the obvious, but presumably all other channels failed for one reason or another - this forum is usually the last option for rescue requests.

On exactly what facts do you make that claim? Actually it is not too late, and I can back that up with the fact that it has worked both for me and others - not often, granted, but posting here for a rescue HAS worked on a number of occasions - it certainly provides a better chance of rescue than no chance at all. In direct response to your assumptions above: really it doesn't take long to figure out nobody is watching the channel (if you happen to be in one), and only seconds to see everyone is AFK on your chosen message service (I use Trillian so I've got most of them covered), so really you don't have an argument.

Regardless of these facts, I would again like to ask: why do a few people have such a big issue with it? I mean seriously, why would you even care if a player wants to try to get raised by posting here, let alone make an issue out of it? It's worked in the past, but hey, if you'd rather just sit around waiting to corpse, be my guest, but I'm sure as sh|t going to try to avoid it if there's even a remote chance of being rescued.
