"Weekly" items

Postby Absu » Sat Nov 25, 2006 2:49 am

What exactly is a "weekly" item, and does it have any kind of limitations?

I was under the impression that it was an item that was made with a special forge that was only available for 1 week. Is this accurate?

That's pretty much it. They were ultra limited time forges for equipment that is head and shoulders above anything else in the game. Which basically means that unless you already have it, its nearly impossible to get.

Most weekly items are currently owned by the drachma eq anyways, so you're not missing much ;)

I think you are wrong Hotara :)

-1.4 weekly helm
+dam weekly th guards
-1.7 +15hp +2hpregen weekly wa greaves
+20spelldamage +15mana weekly sash
+12mana weekly high/low clasp

Even for drachmas you cant buy better items.

Thouh some of weeklies became almost worthless nowadays and have
similar or even better regular ingame analogues.

Sure, some of the prime only weekly quest eq are nice, but what about the mage primes?

Needless to say, most of the weeklies can already be replaced by in-game drachma eq. Sure there are those 4, but beyond that?

Cheers.

In fact we had not so many weekly forges :(
I named the weekly items what are better than elite items.
wa th cl prime items, -1.4 helm, sash of master magi, 12mana clasp,
-.4 +mr rings.

Others weeklies has been beaten by ingame ( and by elite ) items.

I know imms wont run weekly for well known reasons, but,
honestly, last weekly with random cps (12mana clasp) was fun
and fair. I hope someday we could have something similar that.

I like the random forges, flawed gem and glass eye. Perhaps a weekly could have random pops and that takes away from the cycling problems.

I like Mike's idea a lot, that's great. Someone, please take note and help!
If not temporary reruns of some old shit, can we please get some new stuff?

I agree with Mike's idea also.

Kill stuff and good luck on the random pop.

Perhaps make autos for primes that only the prime can build and use. If a warrior tries to build the mage prime weekly it wont forge etc.

I like the concept of weekly forges but to date have 0. Its not worth the headache and fighting normally associated with them. Rather drink a beer and watch the NFL.

Yeah, I think with the amount of issues the weeklies caused in the past with people sitting on mobs for days (which would probably be worse now with the relatively recent resurgence of clans), and others stealing repops under other's noses etc, it was decided a while back they just weren't worth the disruption they caused to the harmony of the mud. In fact I believe it was in part because of the crap that went down in some of these weeklies that quests and drachma and spirit watchers came about.

Yup some of the weeklies were awesome bits of eq, but waiting in a line for 8 hours to start cycling a mob just to find the person before you decides one of his/her mates who just logged on deserves to run it more than you do can be VERY frustrating, leading to all sorts of buggery and mayhem, anger, blood, tears and even death - a feeling that can last well beyond the duration of the weekly.

We have placed several things in game that are a bit less controversial than the weekly forges.

We have, as mentioned, the drachma shops.
We have quest items zoned to single pop on a VERY rare basis in some places.
We have added epic mobs, to which we will slowly be making some eq additions.

I seriously doubt that we will ever bring back the weekly forges as they were originall run, but perhaps we'll bring back some of the eq stats in some of the above or other to be determined forms. The random pops to complete forges idea is certainly up for inclusion.

What do you mean by 'quest item zoned to single pop..etc'

Quest item can pop on any mob randomly?

There's rumors that the new and improved demogorgon pops something besides the gimlet now. The thing dies more times than anyone can count and no one's seen it. I think I've heard rumors of other mobs that were similiarly changed. Wouldn't suprise me if something epic eventually popped off him.

I wonder how we could get info about those zoned quest items if Clink didn't give out some imm info?

P.S. > Weekly for Weaks
