I've played many games where I didn't care a bit if there was a player wipe... oddly, no one seemed to believe that until I decided to show that a competent player could level 60 times in 8 hours on their game (100 levels max). Suddenly everyone wanted to know where I learned to play... and I think Sloth II got a few more hits that day.

Sloth isn't as easy. Yes, you can make a character that can level to 3x40 in xx time. I know a few tricks for making mad xp myself. There is still a considerable amount of time invested in any character. Type score sometime and look how much real life time you have invested in ONE character. Brad probably has the better part of his life invested in this game.

The good players know who they are. There's quite a few of them. If you want a challenge, see if you can get the imms to issue hardcore chars. Characters that come with a limited number of allowed raises (or none) and some kind of natural bonus. Maybe make the requirement for starting one the deletion of an Avatar level character w/ equipment. You can get some newbie with whatever stats your sacrificed avatar had, the same learned list, and maybe something like the avatar light that gifts you with a couple bonuses for being a hardcore.

Or maybe I'm daydreaming again :)

Professions

Postby 13 » Tue Sep 26, 2006 9:00 pm

We need professions IMHO, not remorts. Although the remort/hardcore
character idea is cool in its own right too. Characters need at least two
choices for each class they pick. An either or thing, like heals or buffs;
hp or dmg reduction.
The perfect blend of poetry and meanness..

Professions?

I think professions are already addressed by attunement. Those could also be addressed by eq.

..not to mention you need a pretty large playerbase to support that level of specialization (ie: large playerbase so there are multiple groups running 24/7, or else many specialized chars can become useless and potential players just logoff).
