So anyway, I made a mage/druid/cleric/monk and a mage/cleric/monk/bard just to try em out for a bit.

Is there problems getting equipment without bard or warrior in your classo? It seems like everything I find needs either of those as a requirement.

Most things that have good armor class are going to be warrior/bard/monk/thief restricted. There are items at higher levels that casters can wear to boost their armorclass, but easrly on, you're going to be a strict grouper till you can wear it.

[quote="Diazz_Dizazter":2p3fi6bp][quote:2p3fi6bp]No offense Diazz buy you can say that about every class.

Centinex your not going to get a stone cold answer, because there is no right answer.[/quote:2p3fi6bp]

And Yeah -- there is no right answer.

there is no spoon![/quote:2p3fi6bp]

I'm a glass half full kinda guy. Doesn't that mean that there is no wrong answer?

What this probably comes down to is there are many acceptable class orders and a few clunkers (clinkers?). And I mean specifically a few specific orderings of class selection not combinations of class seleecions (permutations instead of combinations).

There are 56 permutations and I doubt anyone has given them a try to 3x40 to understand how well they perform. In absence of that, I'd say go with whatever style fits you and the fun will come.

This mud is still changing (sometimes subtly, sometimes not) and perhaps it will hit the sweet spot of your class ordering for a while or perhaps it will drift away from it. In either case, it will likely swing back and forth as it has for the past 9+ years of this version of Sloth.

Do or do not. There is no try.

I think I'm going to stick with the M/D/C/O. Seems pretty fun to me so far.

Thanks for the help. :)

One more question...

Str: 12 / 0, Int: 14, Wis: 14, Dex: 13, Con: 11

I'm guessing that is pretty bad. Should I be aiming for 17-18 in Int/Wis?

EDIT: Actually, for some reason my stats are now:

Str: 14 / 0, Int: 17, Wis: 16, Dex: 14, Con: 14

What gives? I didn't use a token...

Your stats can change on the EQ u wear. So more then likey u have some
eq on u that changed ur stats.

Str: 14 / 0, Int: 17, Wis: 16, Dex: 14, Con: 14 even with eq is pretty low.

I believe u should aim for at least 18int as a Mage.

Str: xx / 0, Int: 18, Wis: 17, Dex: 16, Con: xx

The xx are ur lowest stats and doesn't much matter as a caster.

switch 4th and go long

Postby Hades » Tue Sep 12, 2006 9:20 pm

would swap druid 4th choice for bard... u get prot skill for groups and songs kick ass.. plus there be a nifty use of bard I won't mention here...

oh.. and don't level past 20 unless your mostly happy with your stat roll.. people will no doubt argue level up and have fun... I'd commect stay below... have fun and get your perm stats.. it'll save alot of teeth wrenching later on..

finally, no matter what an Imm tells you...there is no sex in the champagne room

Well, I'm definately not starting over again... Anyway, I had monk 4th, not druid, don't know if you knew that or just made a typo.

And yeah, I plan on staying below 20 and rolling my stats for as long as it takes to get a decent roll.

What's the best classo for a Cleric prime specialist - my intention is not to solo it at all - it'll be pretty much a pure group healer / raiser, so I really want to go for max mana, mana regen, and +heal and whatever else would help this kind of character.

I have Xopek as old school Cl, Ma, Wa, Th but am considering getting him wiped and restarting him.. also wonder if I start a new char with same name, can the new char wear the drachma eq from the old char of the same name... if not, then I'll probably let the little bugger stagnate.

Thats simple Weasel: Cl/Dr/xx/Bard

xx = Mage or Necro

I would lean on Mage more, because they give more mana then Necros as
3rd or so I believe. Also this will give u some ability to blast.

Druid 2nd will help with the fast mr, and Bard 4th helps with Protect, 2x
attack, trip and other skills. Also as a bard u can rina for a raise :)

Also I would believe deleteing an old char with drachma eq wouldn't help
on a newbie with the same name.

Got another question, doesn't really fit here but I didn't see the point of making a new thread.

At what point does a blaster start really helping a group?

Say I'm in a group of 5 people, me being a blaster and the other 4 being warriors (level 15-20ish). Say we're in a battle that lasts 10 rounds, and I'm throwing a colour spray (my best 1-target spell so far) every round. Am I really even doing close to comparable damage to one of the warriors, or do I need to level and get better spells? Just asking because I've been grouping a bit lately, and I kinda end up feeling like I'm just leeching, even though I'm blowing my entire MP on colour sprays on a tough mob. It's hard to tell how much damage your spell is doing.

1.
Good luck to you Centinex, best of luck with the stat rolls, there are lots of views on what are good stats, personally I go with add all stats 60+ = ok 70+ = good 80+ = keepers rough rule but works mostly.

2.
As far as a good blaster in a group goes I think any char that can add blinds in before assisting is a worthwhile and valuable member of a group and not in any sense leeching.
However, to answer your question, Daisy is a 4x20 old classo perm valk char Ma Wa Cl Th ...
With good eq she runs in -8ac with about the best non dr weapon she can wield, even with kick dam and frenzy, her fireballs are powerful enough to make a mockery of the weapon damage she can do.

Fireball is the first really useful blasting spell, but all the others still count.

3.
Perm Grouper Cl healo char
my 2 cents worth:

Cl/Dr(ma regen)/Ne(wall and infuse)/Ba(rina and protect)

The only change to this that would make sense to me would be swap cl and dr to get even better ma regen, also dr shift damage if you ever find yourself not needed for heals.
Lots of Love,

Daisy

Curse first and then blind. Once it's blind just attack it, don't even worry to
much about colour spray. Just save ur mana for cursing and blinding.

Stats always going to be hard to get but +80 is keeper for a caster. More
Warriors need 18/+60 and usually a high dex or con. Which all in all is hard
to get. As a caster u mostly look at Int, Wis, and Dex (for ur class order).

I don't see a reason for Necro instead of Mage. As a Necro u can wall ...
Cleric u can Sanc. Necro u can soul ... Cleric u can heal massive with +heal
eq. Spec Shield & Wraith might be the only good thing. However Cleric covers
Spec Shield with Spell shield and Wraith is the only thing that would give an
advantage. However again ... Mage u can blast and sometimes it's better
to blast those ether or thick mobs then as a Necro :)
