I think everyone seriously needs a reality check.....the constant accusations that the imms are out to ruin the game is simply ridiculous. Why would they spend countless hours coming up with new things for a game most of them don't even actively play, only to "ruin the fun" to drive away the players? Do you have any idea how much time they put in for something they don't get paid for? Hell, I can safely say most of us aren't even that dedicated to our paying jobs. Sure, it was a big change in terms of numbers, but if you really bother to see how it actually affected game play, you'd realize that it isn't as drastic as melanthe said it to be. Let's just put it this way....if the eq WERE +2 handdam to begin with, would you still consider monk a useless class? I agree that the tweaks shouldn't end here though, as the handdam doesn't really paint the whole picture of monk-play, but I'll leave that debate to monks.
Most of us have lived through the various changes made to sloth. I know alot of people left, some for good, when sloth 2 gave way to sloth 3. I know i did. But the changes then WERE drastic, even "revolutionary". Rent, continents, spellbooks...I thought they were lame back then. Fact is, it's a fun game, and you can enjoy it if you want to. But to make demands and bitch up a storm to the imms when something is done against your vision of sloth-play, is just plain dumb.
Despite my shady history with driving certain players away from sloth, I have no wish to see anyone quit the game for something trivial. It does the game no good, especially at this point where we are seeing a dwindling base of players. Melanthe, I hope you will continue playing the game, and I will continue to muck around with you when I see you around. But please give some consideration to Splork and gang. From what I know, Rick is never "rude" without reason. And despite what you say, he ALWAYS listens to feedback from the player-base, you just need to discuss instead of start off by attacking him and the imms. Nobody likes that, and if you had to deal with some of the mouthy players sloth has had in its history (me included) you'd understand why he reacts the way he does.
My 2 cents
