Krok will be running a bra burning ceremony to rally the female mudders into breathing new life to the mud. I think we should all be there to support her efforts. Idol Square 8pm CST. Autolycos and I will be doing free idol dives for your amusement.

Seriously though, just vote. That's all you need to do to keep fresh people and ideas coming in. Some of them will certainly suck donkey nuts but most of them will not. If you haven't noticed, the vast majority of players logged on have been 2x40 and better. Sometimes, it's like 60-70% avatars. That's really not a healthy ratio for the game.

One thing I've noticed more recently is that sloth seems to be extremely anti-social these days. I know I'm not one to talk, I'm almost never paying attention when I'm on, but I can't remember the last time I saw any sort of discussion on gossip that wasn't directly related to the game. I just don't think it has the "friendly" atmosphere it used to.

when every third thing on gossip is some newbie begging for sbs, I'd rather imagine most people just have public channels turned off (I know I have for months now...)

Plenty OOC going on in private chans/gtells :)
Don't be stupid - we have politicians for that

Gossip works like this, and is why i dont use it.

Following occured about 1 year ago.

Blackmore Gossips: "Anyone need a hellstrike book"

Mosaix Gossips: " I do"

Blackmore Tells you "Go pop it yourself"

Blackmore Gossips: "Anyone need a hellstrike book"

Pretty useless channel. Pretty mean, and damn sure rude. I can guarantee Ive enjoyed watching you corpse Dean cause of no raisers available. Yet if your attitude was better Id have gone overboard to help you.

The main reason im not playing, and frankly not sure im coming back is the social interraction. Got tired of getting flamed and stepped on. Socially the mud took a serious dump for me long ago.

Pthiefs will be pthiefs. If you dont have junk in your inv, they cant steal it from you. Id rather catch flak for not changing into raise eq, then watch my eq go poof when im changing in the outdoors.

Though Id like to give big thanks to Blastem, Nab, Guinex and Autolycos.
Thanks for making mud fun, and taking the time to hook a cleric up.

Enjoy. See you when I see you.

Posting that you're still holding a grudge from a year ago over one gossip says something about you. I'm not sure what, but it's certainly not positive in my mind.

I help those that need help. If an avatar can't be bothered to pop a book themselves, or even occasionally locate to see if one's laying around, I'm not going to help them. I make an effort to give things to people who may not be able to get them themselves. I'll frequently look at players who are about the right level to see what eq they're wearing. If they're obviously well equipped, then they can get what they either have friends who will give them stuff, or they can get it themselves. If they have low level equipment, then I'm happy to help out. If you can't respect that, that's too bad. If you think an avatar should be given some newbie book over a true newbie, I'm sorry you feel that way.

Heh, on a more serious note...

I have heard people comment about mosiax being an "on the ball" cleric in group, and I know Taliesin enough to know he's not the grudge type... I think... So kiss and makeup... man-hug... whatever...

And he's a tip from a n00b that pops his own hellstrike SB's!!!

It says that i think you act like an disgruntled ass.

A year ago or now makes no difference in my opinion. I wrote it to serve as the best example in my direction of how you carry yourself. As your first posting in this thread caused a recation for me to toss out my inital post.

Your self-rightious postings get on my nerves.

Just dont like the way you act on the mud. Your behavior indeed says a lot about your gameplay and character interaction. Most of the time I see you on gossip, your schooling someone on what they did wrong. How much fun can that be especially to a new player? Why would they even want to stick around and join sloth?

Perhaps you take joy in offering and yanking away books/eq/help when your mood strikes you to do so. Possibly retaliation for a real life problem or issue someone dished at you. Then taking comfort in throwing it back on a mudder.

Dont offer things if you have set criteria for handing them out. Especially over gossip. Its simply stupid.

I eventually poped my own book, spider ate a couple winds and died several cycles over. Was simply not a critical book at the time for me to go out and pop. By asking for the book on gossip, even at my levels, was trying to save time. I have never had the time to sit on the mud and hog pops all day long while I work, etc.

I think ive given a fair share of junk out, expecially on valk to newbs. I have no doubt most of those noobes dont need the help as they are not newbs. However it goes out regardless. Everyone likes to get ahead, and make their chars a little more complete.

Shyla is very generous, and you are very stipulated. Takes all kinds I suppose. Though the Shyla's of sloth will for instance help build the playerbase. I have faith you will continue to not.

Re: New Area's

[quote="jezer":2x9iiw3y]Krok wrote this...

I think the playerbase is dropping, cause the old players just can't find a new thing to do. New skills and spells add a bit of fun, but when you finally get the damn book after 10+hours of perm cycling on all of the continents.. you are a bit discouraged, actually. We can solo stuff which was a dream for us in the childhood. We can do almost everything pretty well, but we have noooo new stuff to do. No new areas, no new forges etc.

If I were an imm I'd be a little alarmed by this. Life is full of cycles, and eventually the more experienced players and imms will leave sloth. Is it not time that some of the younger players step up and improve sloth?

What I am saying, as the respected player base drops, there needs to be injection of fresh talent and ideas from younger players - under the watchful eye of older players, so that sloth can continue further into the future.

If say 3x40 players could write area's and have them approved by imms without becoming imms this could really freshen things up. Maybe a few drachma could be offered for a good area to be put into the game. I think it is idea's like this that could secure a more relevant future for sloth?

I'd like to see a new continent... maybe restricted to 2x40 or less... or an entire continent with area's all themed together. The idea's are boundless... and I am sure I will post more - as will others.

Most people that play sloth are fairly good with computers. I for one am a programmer and would consider writing an area writer which people could write area's in for approval. I could make it output an area file in sloth syntax if so required. It also gives a bit more of a sense of ownership to players... and with that sloth will build and increase.[/quote:2x9iiw3y]

I wont read teh whole thing.
From my bird's eye view *strut*... Poor lil Jezer whines about boredoom and so on...

Jezer! You still ARENT even 4x40! Now be a good boy, shut teh chatter and lead teh Chop, but first map all chop-areas YOURSELF, then chop your ass out at least to 4x40-20, trust me - being Avatar IS interesting. Here, now you have teh goal :) Good luck etc

He's also nostab. Which for a splork mob makes him kinda rough. Easy if you have monk in classo, or are a winding mage. I had a 2x40 old classo that had quite a problem with him because I have mage 4th.

There's a lot of areas that aren't run. I've tried to learn a few of them, but I've discovered that I have multiple issues when I try to do much of anything on sloth. This is my normal though process:

1) I could cycle spellbooks.
2) I really should cycle eq.
3) If I cycle eq, I should run the area enough for others to get their pops.
4) Running the same area 20x is kinda boring.
5) Running xp is easy.
6) If I level enough, I'll get iron skin and I won't need eq.
7) If the mud stays up a while, I can probably find the books I need lying around.
8) Getting an xp group together is pretty easy.
9) I'll just run xp....

Which usually results in me needing more eq and spellbooks, and coins... I always seem to need coins....

Yes coins. Until I pop enough vguards to outfit all my clanies, I won't have an extra one for you, Weasel and Qa to fight over. However, after that I figure I'll have enough for quite some time.
