search broken?

It seems search skill doesn't work fine anymore. I can't find a lair in Irda Sanctuary but locate shows coins hidden somewhere there. And some days before I haven't found lair at huge green dragon in Underdark (search said there is no lair) though 'talk with dead' spell helped to found the lair in that room. I guess it have been changed only for high level mobs cause there is no problem with other lairs of little mobs, but I wonder how I can get my pop from the lair w/o 'talk with dead' spell. 'Telepathy' spell won't help at aggro mobs, i.e. at huge green. And even at non-aggro mob it could take quite a few time to receive this certain message from mob. 'Perceprtion' and 'sense life' doesn't help too.

I've had problems using it too, but I'm not real sure how it's supposed to work, so I've pretty much left it alone.

I have to search with Druid. From what I can tell, I can only search outdoors. Since it's my last class, I also have problems finding things that require a 40 to find. At least I thought I read somewhere that some lairs are level dependant...

Splork created the bloodhound a while back, which seems to allow you to search at lower levels, but I've never found anything with it. I'm not sure if this is because it's a level 8 mob, or because it's affected by searching indoors as well.

Or maybe I'm just crazy and need to learn how to search. I usually end up asking someone else to find caches for me though.

spirit watchers also tell you if a mob has something in a lair. those little guys are getting better all the time. next up finding my keys for me...

Funny you should mention that...

You have no idea how annoying it is to have a spirit watcher chatter at you that there's a cache... then not be able to find it. I haven't found the feature that makes it spit out a name yet.
