Dear Worst Group Ever

Postby *juggleblood* » Sun Feb 18, 2007 5:05 pm

Please, Pretty Pls:

*tell leader when you are afk. This would be sufficient:
#al {afk}{tell $leader afk}
#al {back}{tell $leader back}

*take initiative and say "IN" when you have the mana, spend your heals, and then say "OUT". Especially if you're a non-protector who isn't even assisting.

*check your protect when the leader says "check prot", even if you think yours is good. There's prolly a reason why they are saying check protects.
Unless leader says otherwise, just protect the person below you on the list of players under the 'group' command. If you aren't protected, grouptell something like *HEY RUB YOU JACKASS CAN I GET A PROTECT OVER HERE?!* preferably in an obnoxious color.

*make actions for entering the archways in olympus
#ac {^$leader enters the archway and}{arch}
#ac{^$leader enters the glowing archway and}{arch}
#al arch enter archway

*don't get angry at me for ungrouping you. I hate seeing absents in the group list. Just come and refollow when you're ready to rejoin and we'll fix prots on you.

I'm not trying to be a dick when I ungroup people. I'm just trying to move on without getting bogged down on afkers. Please don't get mad or apologetic, just follow back up and get back into the protect order.

Thanks

Rub

Hey I was in the group and sometimes u just dont know who to heal when the 1.tank chops herself and 3 different people start 2.tankin and whining. Sorry I only healed 2. 3. 4. tank before we all died.I also entered the archway and somehow entered it again and ended up outside. came back in and found I was ungrouped so I waited to make sure no deaths then I recalled. I was never afk or botting but when trying to fix scripts sometimes I get behind. Sorry for wrecking your group but maybe a little grouptell like hey Pooka come back in you idiot would be nice before you ungroup me next time.

Thanx from the weak warrior and innept necro.

I really wasn't targetting my abuse at you Alias. It's just that I was getting so frustrated at having to grouptell enter archway that I just snapped and ungrouped everyone who was absent. As for the healing, I'm talking about how Firebrand was dying on almost every single mob when two of the three non-protecting druids had 500 - 600 mana each. These weren't tank suicides, she just got zero heals in the first 4 or 5 rounds. I know you were debuffing. You just got caught up in my wrath and frustration. Really sorry.

Anyway I've refilled my prozac and am feeling much calmer now.

I have always felt these issues were major problems with grouping. Few players want to lead when the cf falls mainly on them, even tho it occurs from faulty healos. I deal with this stuff all the time. Even the best players have moments now and again. I usually give most importance to those in the group doing the most/paying attn the most. If your the only one listening, I might just kill 2 things for you and skip everyone else thats botting.

I tend to find more fault with the area. The first time I got dragged around Oly it became pretty apparent that without a trigger to autofollow the leader through portals, I was just holding everyone up. After I made the trigger, I spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out what went wrong when we got to the first 'glowing' archway.

I have a rather long list of triggers that have no purpose other than to follow leaders into bottles, archways, crawling through tunnels, tasting chalices, etc, etc, etc.

I'm not a big fan of making clients required, but its getting to the point where its nearly impossible to keep up without them. Especially when you're like me and type like crap. If you're going to run an area like this, you really have to stop after the first archway and make sure that everyone has triggers, or you're just risking splitting the group every archway. And since it takes time to set triggers, no sense risking them setting them at a crucial moment.

Another problem in Oly is that the occasional mob, like Athena, can splork the tank before anyone gets a chance to heal.

If you've got the tank whining for 5 rounds without getting a heal and the healo is physically present, you've got other problems.

Recall them

Postby Avatar » Tue Feb 20, 2007 1:53 am

I've always been a fan of just recalling people who aren't paying attention. Like Rub says, it doesn't have to be a big deal. Just come back when you want to play and you're able to pay attention. The only problem really is that protect order. I normally try to make sure the person above is ready to protect over before I recall someone.

Any chance you can poste them? I joined the group near the end and held the group because I had never been there before (could have been the proverbial straw). Certainly I don't want to be the one to hold a group up so any info to prevent that would help. Thanks.

Ok, I guess I got that from the last group. But I think there numerous other triggers. That was what I was asking about. The only other ones I know of are open bottle and pray thieves. If that's all then great, simple fix.
