I kinda laughed when I saw a comment along the lines of 'retrain the leaders'. There's several rolls I look for when running and group and I sometimes have people doing things that aren't intuitive to their class.
As examples: Having cleric primes blast instead of heal in stab/blast groups. They just don't seem to understand that if you heal me for 350 a round and I'm taking 600 a round, you're healing me to death. A good frostbolt or two would be more effective.
Having mage primes heal in xp groups. Again, against an infinately thick mob, the damage the bolts do just isn't worth the mana cost. I can have them act as healos and it gives the true clerics time to regen mana and extend my runs.
It is sometimes practical to have druids shift in groups, but it's rare. Finding another job for them usually means placing them in the healo.
The comment about being effective is VERY true. I have no reservations at all about changing the healo midstride if I think the situation calls for someone with more mana reserves, larger heals or straight more reliability. Avoiding CFs is my main goal and I act accordingly.
Either way, I guess the moral is you might not be doing exactly what you want to be doing in any given situation. In a group its the leaders decision, and in the case of a druid, I'm not letting 600+ mana go to waste just because I don't want him shifting. I don't think I've ever given preferance to any class over another, though I might lean harder on folks like Rynquald and Poodle that have proven time and again that they can handle the pressure.
