jezer, one of our "problems" is that too many people like you think that all laws are "for our own good" without taking the time to stop and ask "when did this become a problem and why am i letting someone else think for me?"
i was born and raised right here in southeast texas - MAJOR redneck country. i was taught how to use firearms almost as soon as i was steady enough on my feet to point them at the target in my back yard. it wasn't because i needed to "defend myself". my family wanted me to know how to safely and properly handle a firearm. they are not only used to kill/protect other humans. we also use them to go hunting - for food.

you are not only asking me to give up a way to defend myself, my peace of mind that the gun is there in case i need it, but also a way to feed myself and my family if the need ever arose. thanks, but no thanks.

it's closed-minded, unyielding, "government-knows-best" people like YOU, jezer, that are the threat here. not because you are breaking into my home. not because you disagree with me. it is because you are content to sit back and do nothing, thinking that the laws will protect you while you are getting robbed. i am sure that that intruder is going to wait for you to grab your phone, open it, dial 911, wait for the operator to answer, get your name and address, wait for you to state your problem and describe your intruder. HELL NO! he's going to blow your hand off (at the least) trying to get that phone away from you. now what, dumbass? now you have no phone, you are wounded and the intruder is STILL THERE. where's the cops then? where is your help? where is your laws to protect you? get your head out of the sand and look around you, jezer. the world is not a pretty little kindergarten classroom that eats their milk and cookies and takes a nap because teacher says so.

"now a real killer, when he picked up the zf-1, would've immediately asked about the little red button on the bottom of the gun." - zorg --> the fifth element
Yeah bringing you another disturbing creation from the mind of one sick animal who can't tell the difference and gets stupified.

Laws like rules only apply to those who choose to obey them or those who get caught violating them.

But rynquald just proved my point... Once again... justification of owning weapons based solely on projected fears. Do you want to live your life under that weight? I choose not too.[/quote:mmd0s9pv]
So I presume you recommend people should not wear a seatbelts while driving a car, because that is clearly an action based on projected fear.
Poisons should not be placed in child-proof cupboards, because that is clearly an action based on projected fear.
Shall I continue?
LOL.[/quote:mmd0s9pv]

So I presume people should destroy their cars before they get in accidents?
So I presume poisons should be destroyed before they are allowed to kill children?

So I presume you should shoot someone before they can shoot you?

These are more relevant comparisons.

But Captain Crunch Peanut Butter Cereal is greater.
Sorry Reboog.
It was a close thing, if that is of some comfort to you.

Obama to use executive orders for immediate impact

By STEPHEN OHLEMACHER, Associated Press Writer
********************************************

WASHINGTON – President-elect Obama plans to use his executive powers to make an immediate impact when he takes office.John Podesta, Obama's transition chief, said Sunday the president can use such orders to move quickly on his own.

"There's a lot that the president can do using his executive authority without waiting for congressional action, and I think we'll see the president do that," Podesta said.

"Obama's advantage of course is he'll have the House and the Senate working with him, and that makes it easier," said Carl Tobias, a law professor at the University of Richmond. Executive orders "have the power of law and they can cover just about anything," Tobias said in a telephone interview.

In a completely non-related question, I will be making my first gun purchase this coming Friday. Not because I think a gun ban will soon take effect or anything, that would never happen, but I am curious as too what type of handgun I should go with. I've looked over a .38 special, a 9mm, a 9mm x18 which is a 9mm with a smaller bullet, and something else..just curious if anyone have one and would recommend it over another...for the record..it is strictly for defense..

Weasel your post is again jaded and flawed.

What rock were you living under while Bush has been president?

Never heard a peep out of you about Bush. You hate Obama we all get that already.
