Your comment about me not knowing the mud very well is somewhat true, and maybe I should have said dark chasm xp is a joke compared to what else can be available for avatars.

I can only think of one off lyme area that is worth running for xp... and if there is more... I certainly want to know about them

Dark Chasm might be fairly good xp for 2-3 man level 40's... but why else would you bother with the area apart from the two forges? I won't be.

Killing a dark chasm mob for 2 mins, when I can kill and aged ryukyu for 4.5m in one round just doesn't compare. Dark Chasm will be off my christmas card list as soon as I finish the forges.

exactly. This would be like Autolycos trying to run murkwood and whining that the xp sucks.

These mid level chop areas are the meat and potatoes of the mud. Chasm and herbalist fill this nitch nicely on AH. I think of Sakura as the Murkwood of Aisholm. 2-4 man mid level xp is good stuff.

Edit: Large necros are able to do decent xp solo in these areas as well.

Are you going to fix it so I can order my necro pets shifted?

Then I'd run chasm! Actually, no then I'd probably run more Mystica....

I'm working on an undead mode at the moment... think I'm at +8. I'll give chasm another shot unshifted and see how I go.

no, but u could try using brownie and see if it occasionally eliminates your shift lag

one other thing u could try is using a sword and a banshee, the banshee proc for solo should work pretty decent. It makes the debuffs land very easily.

I'm not sure how good an idea this is. My necro is Napoleon, only triple 40 atm. Marge sucks for necro pet chop cuz she quad caster, no ac, no dam reduction, counterattack, etc. When she reaches avatar I guess I'll switch her tri forty gear to AC so I can run with a pit fiend and 2 swords.

I'm not much of a necro, but I gave chasm a shot last night with 2 swords and -10ac. My swords had about 1300hp each. Yeah it worked, kind of, figure shifting works out better though in mana efficiency. Healing self is expensive. I tried to acid blind the mobs, which proved hard to land. My pets died after two mobs, of cause if I shift I could take several.

I can see how a prime necro could do well... and how a couple of level 40's could maybe group nicely there... so although the area can have it's uses... [b:3aulnpfq]will it actually be used[/b:3aulnpfq] outside the forge? I doubt it... and by all means feel free to point out the small 40 groups running there... cause I doubt it will happen much.

Like the brownie and shift lag... why would I use it over an eudaemon or a nightmare? This is the problem... nice improvements are being put in the game but they seem 'timid.' There is always this give and take approach. Sometimes I just wish someone would grow a back bone and do something that's just outright good... without having to give and take all the time under the "fear" of over powering players.

What the heck is wrong with saying... ok... lyme cap is now 10m... I mean really... why not? Or make 5x40 cap higher... there are just so many little "thorns" people seem to scared to remove. So they do this silly little give and take routine which makes it seem like something is good but the truth is you just come out even.

Qudos to Brad for Mystica and Judge for the new druid improvements that were excellent without the give and take philosophy.

I'm probably going to rant about druid pets sometime soon, I'm just trying to come up with some witty and sarcastic way to make my points... working on a few ideas

Yeah I've never figured out the mentality when it comes to popular areas. It seems (in general) when an area becomes very popular and has groups running it on a daily basis, rather than look at that area and use it as a model for tweaks on other areas, that popular area is nerfed instead, presumably to drive people elsewhere. Seems counter-productive to me. This is a bit of a generalization of course, based on past experience rather than more recent experience (meaning I have not checked out Jugglz tweaks), but still..

the only area i can think of offhand that got changed significantly was demonweb, which was indeed kinda sad. I can't think of another example of an xp area getting nerfed. The honor thing kinda messed up castle, but thats been undone. The admin seems to be looking at ways to make more zones as popular as skeep and such. Not nerf them.

Unless time has mixed up my memories. I think Castle became useless for xp some time before honor went ingame.

And right after the castle had been added.

Castle was buffed up once before honor came in, mobs hit more and were worth a little less xp, this was the start of people not running there as much. When honor came in it was run even less.

When I first tanked Castle mobs it was kinda rough but I was -9.0 ac and no parry, I don't think anyone would like to do that now.

MH was a place that used to be fun for some solo.. used to be able to solo Balor, but not a chance now.
When did anyone last see an Iceglen group? Ettins? Lyme chop? (I mean the 'traditional' chop - maw, giant lizards etc., that used to run on a near daily basis).
Mostly see D.Mount with diversions to specific BH mobs now, or nothing at all barring new areas that are hit for a while for forges.
Wonder how long until D.Mount gets a good nerfing?
