Ok newbs,
It looks as though a lot of you folks don't understand how to get saved
on SlothMUD when you die. The first, best, help is going to be a scroll
of recall. A couple other things that will help you get your sorry ass raised
are

1: ICQ - It's an instant messenger thing. You can just use Trillian
and it will manage ICQ/AIM/Yahoo/MSN, you don't even have to have the
other shit installed. When you get ICQ, put you number in your title for a
few days or so, so that people will know to add you. Get some other
numbers too.

2: Channels - Join a channel ingame with a few smart people who know the
mud. Hosers usually works, or the ~dragonsworn~ channel. When you die,
break your link and log back in. This kicks you out of the channel and a lot
of people will send you a tell to make sure you are not dead (which you
are, so it's cool).

Multiplay to get your own recall or corpse, even if you think you're slick like Ulrich, they know better.

Post on the message board about how you are dead. People don't respond
that fast usually, and generally can't be counted on to be looking
at the crier right at the right time. This just makes you look like a simp.

You MAY use one character to collect the corpse of another of your
characters, as long as only one character is on at any time.

We used to have a web page here with numbers for everyone, and I believe the web page had icons that changed color if the person was online with ICQ. Then you could to the page if you died, and find someone online that way. Don't know what happened to that page.

Anyone have experience with wiki's? It seems that wiki's are an easy way to let people add / edit content, and manage it themselves. I haven't participated in any collaboration with wiki's, but it seems interesting.

[edit] In addition to Trillian, there's similar software called Pidgin (used to be Gaim) as well as a handful of other IM clients that connect to multiple networks.
