there's a HUGE difference in 1-on-1 pvp arena-style and open PK, in areas, with mob, trigtraps, etc, where knowledge of multiple areas and tricks can trump well-written scripts. If you've ever fought in a tourney and run on chaos port, you know the difference. Arenas are cool, don't get me wrong, even if the people who talk the most shit tend to be the ones who wouldn't be caught dead near one, so they kinda lose their usefulness (heh, some way to force people to fight duels might be fun, at that - can't rent with a challenge upon you or something.. but I digress).
I agree it could in theory wind up being way more work for the imms, and there are definitely sensitive types who'd wind up getting their panties in a bunch for one reason or another, but yeah, it's not like anyone would be forced to go there, so the possible embarrassment of losing to someone 1/4 your size can be avoided. Making it kind of like valk, with chars unable to leave (or maybe, you get the option to move once in your chars life - you can leave at some point, but you can't go back - and having the one-time option to move an existing char there) and (hopefully) making better use of temp eq than Valk has - there's some really nice stuff there that I almost never see used.
