Wow.. you're right about being messed up on so many levels.. I kind of support the idea in a way, I mean hell, if they think "when more rapists go behind bars, rape rates will go down", then they can be damn sure that rape rates will go down even faster if rapists are aware they risk having their dicks sliced up and then going to jail. On the other hand, I also certainly agree that it will increase the danger to women if they are attacked and the rapist winds up with a 'dick-clamp' attached to his knob.. pretty tough call.. an eye for an eye I guess..

A rape every 26 seconds. 40% are children, 65% are gang rapes. Despite this, women are saying this shouldn't be used.

Rough translation: I would rather have my child gang raped than use this device.

An anti-rape campaigner, someone who should be sympathetic to rape victims, says that the person who invented it "...fundamentally misunderstands the nature of rape and violence against women in this society..." WHAT?!? What is rape and violence supposed to mean in your society? Is it a status symbol? How do you misunderstand rape and violence?

Granted, the things isn't cool, it must be surgically removed... but can you imagine that trip to the doc? You can either keep it on and live with the pain, or you can have a doc remove it and basically go directly to jail.

Moral? Stay the hell out of South Africa...

The main problem I see with our society is this type of thinking. People will probably say that its not the rapists fault, his mom called him fat when he was a kid. Nobody takes responsibility for their actions anymore. The really sad thing is that if someone raped my family, I would be the one going to jail.
