Dwarvish Axe vs Valor Sword

Valor: 4d5+1tohit +2dam 6-22 for one attack, 18-66 for 3 attacks
has average damage of 14

Axe: 5d6 +5tohit +1 dex 5-30, for one attack, 15-90 for 3 attacks
has average damage of 17.5

Comparrison: 3.5 damage per hit, 10.5 damage per round with 3 attacks

I thought adding something like max_str might be something more enticing. Not sure if tri40 axe is worth sacrificing an entire tri40 gear for. Any thoughts, everyone?

A couple of thoughts -

1. The Axe has dex, so if you need it, its quite a bit better.
2. Your comparision assumes that the choice is being made by a warrior prime. Other prime clases might find the axe more useful.

If you really wanted to beef it up, forget about Max_str, add Max_dex in lieu of dex. Of course, that seems unlikely....

Well here's how I look at it so far...
Valor is too close to tri40 axe, and ac items better for warrior (especially in my case)
a thief will stab
a cleric has dark mace
a monk will go weaponless
and seems like tri40 staff works better for everyone else

Even though I think the axe looks snazzy, I guess I won't choose it. I think I'll go cuirass, spectrolite charm, and mithril sleeves. Thanks :)
