Maxing Stats and the Long Haul...

I rolled my stats today which got me thinking more about my eq on the long road to 9x40.

Obviously the intention would be to run my character at max stats.

Order -> Wis Con Dex Int Str

(21 22 25 23 24)

A quick observation of drachma eq, and 3x40 reveals currently there is not enough max_stat eq to achieve my goal. Understandable it's still being thrashed out.

Can we have an assurance that if we buy drachma items and they change that we can for a limited time get a full refund?

Is it also possible that there be as little changing as possible to existing items but more a lean to creating new items. If some existing item changes it could ruin everything, especially if players spent drachma.

Also, are we still doing xp tokens... and what can we buy with them?
This too could totally change what eq I buy with drachma, or cycle etc etc.

I'm not expecting for everything to be finalised, I guess I'm just asking there be some dialogue, some buy backs and understanding when things get changed.

Also I'm wondering if the immortals consider publishing what all the ruins do? I see a number of positives to this... people won't hoard ALL GEMS first up if they know what they are. Less experienced players won't be disadvantaged, and with the way they pop, it so random and rare it doesn't really matter if we know anyways... the same way of getting them applies. Think about that, I see only advantages making this knowledge public. If we know, it makes no difference to getting them anyways... not a lot changes, just maybe the hoarding and not making public information.

well, I guess your expectations and mine are totally different. I was thinking that the max stat thing would be set up to make you make choices about what you run and that it simply wouldnt be possible to max out everything. I mean, you would need what +7, +6, +5, +4, +3, thats +25 to max stats, just to get the slots, and then you need to actually get those additional stats.

it just doesnt seem realistic to me that even if you had the best of everything that you should be able to come close to managing what you expect to be able to do.

How many players even at 5x40 on S3 ran with or expected to run with 18/100 18 18 18 18 ?

As stats are now different with higher potentials in each stat even if you'd expected to be maxxed out on S3 should you have similar expectation on S4?

They are making more eq, there is also max_stat drachma eq and clasps. I also expect that stats will be able to be purchased post avatar. I also suspect that some of those runes are stats. Presently I don't think there is enough max_stat eq to get to 25 in any stat, but why would they allow it to be 25 if there is not a way of getting there? It would be nice is max stat could maybe be added to honor rank clasps as well. I think there is plenty of scope there.

There are plenty of max stat eq items ingame, most of them are high end forges and drachma eq. Its a long term goal for both players and Immortals, as we are adding items all the time.


I have no plans on revealing rune stats, as I have no plans on posting the hundreds of items that have not been found and their stats.

I was really looking forward to the new DB project. I think our web site (maps and equipment database) is one of Sloth's major benefits over most other muds.

I know at one point the new DB was also to include all autoquests and area information such as re-pop times and whether the are needed to be empty to re-pop.

If this is what is taking so long, perhaps it could be released in stages as parts are completed?

We all have adapted to not having an accurate eq db, but I think we all would agree it would be great addition. Especially for new players that don't have a long history with Sloth eq.

Are the 'new eq' ,,,, max_stat eq and "adding all the time",
what's holding up an updated Eqlist?

Rune stats and max_stat items will be posted on clan sites
or shared as they occur no doubt.

The who lists look great every winter. I'm one who hopes
for continued success.

We had been told that there was going to be a new eqlist that was accurate to the new eq. Nobody has even tried to maintain the old list because of this rumored project. I know there's many ways of keeping...let's call it unpublicized eq off the eqlist, but can you say a little more about the above statements? Will there be a new list coming soon? Will items be blocked from it, and what will get them unblocked? Will we be given a way to hunt down the blocked items?

People don't care about what they don't know about. Doing this Splork is a bit like asking us to work in your garden and not tell us how much you are going to pay us. Who do you really think is interested in that?

You seem to think that mystery is awesome... but you already know about everything... so how would you know?

There is a balance between working things out ourselves and being given enough information to make things to work. I think you should be going the other way. I'm disappointed by the continual hiding, I just don't get it. How ironic that a game written in C on UNIX platform is more wired shut than Windows.

The best thing that ever happened to this game was maps, eqlist and the source code leak.

I have a bunch of cousins under 15, and it always annoys me when I go around there... and they have some news... but they want me to "guess" the news first. I'll say something stupid, and they will laugh and say "NO! GUESS!" I don't wanna flippin guess the stupid news just tell me what it is I feel like saying!

How about listing all eq/names/stats on the website... but not showing area/location/forger for those yet unfound?

I can handle turning the mud upside down to find something... IF i know the reward.

I said there is going to be a new eqlist which will be ported directly from the game. This part has already been completed. I never said that all eq will be listedright away or when it will be listed. I asked for popular vote online of how and when eq should be listed or if they wanted the entire db of eq and the poppers right away and the majority voted they did not want the eq and pop locations given away.

We are in the process of determining how and when the eq will be listed. We are not going to list all of the eq and where it pops when the new db opens. We are most likely going to list all the items that are already ingame and what pops those items. From there, as new eq is popped, it will be ported to the eqlist and shown to the players.

The new eq list is taking time because basically this entire website had to be ported over to a new CMS and the information inside it was put together in a much friendlier and practical manner. The dbs have been cleaned up and entirely rewritten, from scratch. This includes the map room, the spell and skill lists, a new autoquest module which will list ALL ingame autoquests and mobs to talk to, and the eq db. Please thank Benq for his effort because it has been a huge task. A very time consuming task which is 90% finished.

Im not trying to or going to argue about this. I am not going to list the stats of runes or other unpopped eq. Instead of directing your frustration at the immortals, how about bitching at the players who are hording and not sharing the information which is very rude and unsloth like. This isnt a power trip and this is no different than what we have been doing for 20 years here. We have rarely if ever given out the stats of non popped or forged eq and I am not about to start now.

Im sorry it is taking longer than normal but we are finishing up two major projects currently, talking mobs and the new website DB.

It seems offical, the eq in the eq list, will have to be rebuilt from the ground up. *grumble* :evil:

I suggest you take a copy of the old eq list so we know what to cycle to get things back on there.

Apparently quest eq will show up from the start... so hopefully they might remove the pointless "query blocking" from the shop keepers if you don't have enough drachma.

I don't know what will happen with random pops... like spellbooks and tokens... will the mob be listed as a loader... hmm?

Will forged and identified runes show on the lost? Hmm, don't know.

I didn't extract enough information from splork about forges.

It would seem the items/forges that haven't been found in 10 years will remain hidden.

If you buy drachma items and a better item comes in game, tough luck it seems.

If you dreamed of working out all the eq you needed at 9x40 your dream is over... you'll have to pop it first. :twisted:
