BH Jail

Postby Skyv » Wed Dec 23, 2009 12:07 am

Well, I find myself in a new situation in that I am sitting in jail after my group made an aborted run at the Dream Weaver via accidental targeting. Any advice on how to get out of here?

Thanks

You really think anyone will help a criminal like you? ;)

Actually, yes I was! Although it is a bunch of fun to sit there unable to do basically anything and wonder what happens when my food supply runs out...

I gave up last night after waiting a little over an hour, so definitely takes more than 40 minutes nowadays.

Xamak had that right.:)

Because my last target before joining the group was master-thief in migarrd. Target master. We came sailing through there still in regen and it seems that the weaver also responds quickly to being the said same target.

Sorry Skyv and the rest of the group. It was'nt the leaders fault.

So now I'm trying to make a oneshot that sets target to null after

kill.:) I can disable and enable then. May be suggested for

stab/blast/grip on follow scripts everywhere.:)
(Not available in Stores.)

Although accidents happen, hopefully the next one won't be my
fault..

This is what I saw:

At least I got a counterattack in before Stab went to -18951 HPs and I went to jail :)

Stab is dead! R.I.P.
Your hit bounces off the Dream Weaver's heavy armor.
The Dream Weaver calls for the powers of the immortals!
The ground jumps up and hits the back of your head! No, wait, it's you on the ground.
You can't do that. You're in jail!

This reads like all those really bad Christmas sitcom episodes were the stars end up spending Christmas Night in jail eventually getting bailed out by there husbands/wives.

thinking about this, I wonder whether the whole concept of the jail system needs a rethink.

Jail prevents a player from playing, to my mind there are so very few situations when you want this to happen. My list of offences so severe that a player should be prevented from playing is as follows:

1. Player deliberately tries to break the game

2. erm see number 1.

Killing shopkeepers while stupid (sorry Stab) isnt an offence that should stop someone from playing.

Killing players or stealing from players again should be punished but not by stopping someone playing .... if it gets to that point (i.e. repeat offenders) for these offences I think it should be a consious decision of an imm not an automatic game event.

I guess what I'm trying to say is if you're going to lock us up, give us a way to break out or be broken out i.e. a different aspect of playing the game rather than a way a stopping us play.
If punishment is still needed beyond that then someone other than a script should make that decision.
