Forgot to take the robe off, which is 3 undead control in the first fight, but its irrelevant i suppose as it just doesnt make any difference anyway.

And yes, poltegeists are the best necro summon undead at level 2x40 34. They have 320hp with 14 undead control and cant hit anything apart from cats and dogs in towns.

I can also summon 1 wraith, yes - one! at level 2x40 34 which has 360hp and a slight improvement of hitroll on poltegeists.

And im still really puzzled why undead control bonus is not tied to the number of undead followers you can have instead of making it level based ?

Undead control bonus is capped by the position of necro in your class, so that would be the most reasonable and most progressive choice of capping the power of undead followers one has. Why should a necro quad be allowed the same amount of undead followers as necro prime?

Necro pets are now tied to the position of ne in your classo in a similar way to supplication (a good change from S3)

Undead Control affects the hp of your pets plus perhaps other stuff, control horde on the other hand controls how many pets you can summon.

Not sure if theres any other points in your original long post ... not going to spend the time trying to work out what you're saying if you can't summarise for me.

How is necro balanced Thraxas ? You have been using wights which are level 36 animate dead untill you are almost 3x40.

All other animate deads except for wights are crap, even vampires which are some 44 levels away from wights are worse than them - they have the same hp, a bit less damage and miss more!!!!. Summon undead's are useless. Poltegeists dont hit anything and you can only summon 1 wraith at level 2x40 34 when its a level 2x40 undead.

If Splork or any other imm changes wights ,you are screwed and wont be able to solo anything because thats the only good pet at the moment. And i dont see any reason for anyone to need a necromancer level beyond level 36 because of it.

Where is the progression ? What have i gained for the past 80 levels ? Nothing!

Undead control is not doing anything except adding HP, unlike others who dont care to test stuff i do. 14 undead control adds 30hp to the minimum roll and 70hp to the maximum roll which is great - for like about 1 hit from a good opponent. It adds NO hitroll from what tests i've done which is THE most important stat and it adds NO AC from what i can tell. If your undeads dont hit anything and everything still hits them the same with UC bonus, whats the point of Undead control?

Alright Splork, i believe you, but i cant for the life of me see any difference between my undeads with or without undead control, so much that i no longer shift modes and summon my undeads with 0 undead control.

I guess im just not going to waste any drachma on undead control.

Actually I can quite happily cycle with poltergeist or vampires, soon I'll use wraiths and vilewights, I don't rely on one animate, yes some undeads are pointless but then so are some supplications / spells / druid forms ... so what.

I guess we'll just have to disagree, as most here will know I've played necro quite a bit for some time so maybe I'm just set in my ways and opinions. Theres at least 2 other long term necro primes with active necro chars on S4 it'd be interesting to hear what they think of the class now (balanced or not?), maybe triple 40 is a bit early to form strong opinions though ...

I assure its not only possible but I do so on a regular basis, perhaps you sould try different mobs.

From your comments you sound like you're expecting necro to play like a stabber, perhaps you're more used to playin th prime? Necro is a different style of play to the big stab / blast running, its far more choppish. Try totting up the xp / hour you can run with a necro rather than worrying about how many rounds it takes to kill low xp mobs.
