I'm not 5x40 yet and not retired, just taking a break for educational purposes.

No..I have recently made several contributions to the game. It's why you haven't seen me ranting lately on the crier...with the guidance of Jake, i will be taking over a majority of duties. I hope everyone likes the new direction I plan on taking the game and invite their friends to come back to play and try to get new people to show up as well. Contrary to what a few Immortal's have suggested, I am NOT changing the name to TapMUD. There will not be a pwipe nor am I planning one. However, some immediate changes will possibly throw alot for a loop but all I ask is that you bear with me.

..feeling kinda sick about seeing 7-8 years wiped out.. would be helpful to see an official post about it here from the admin, and reasons etc, rather than having to ask in-game over and over, or be told second- or third-hand with the invariable misinterpretations...

Wondered where that pirate Auto had been hiding.
I just finished building a new PC that can handle pretty much anything - including Crysis on high settings.. and I haven't even clocked the CPU up yet lol ..beast.

It has been announced that the entire playerbase will be wiped clean. Character Names and Passwords will remain for one month.

Sloth3 will return as "Sloth" with improvements, as promised by Immortals.

Personally I do not like having 6 years worth of work being wiped with the stroke of a key. But I do not think that we have a whole lot to say about it.

I have met alot of very neat people and I hope that I can call many of them friends. I may pop back in once in a while, but I am in the same boat with Shyla, I do not think I have the time or energy to start over at this point.

This game takes both players and immortals to make it work. The immortal staff has done MANY things to improve this. The one thing that I would hope that is added to Sloth4 is take input from the players.

!SECOND HAND! Summary: Minutes ago, when Splork shut down the server, there was a complete and irreversable player wipe. Vaults and palaces are gone. Clans are gone. Eq is lost. Your chars and levels are gone.

You may log in using your old name and password to create a new character -- your old names are saved for you.

When the mud reboots, sometime tomorrow (afternoon-ish), there will be no more Slothmud III, only 'Sloth.' Every char will eventually be able to access all 8 classes, and the additional avatar abilities.

Changes have been made to various skills and spells, the eq system, the stats system (no more rolling!), and various other asundry changes. Rewards will be offered to the fastest char to 1x40, 2x40, etc.

Log in tomorrow and check it out.

I'm sure we'll see plenty of these over the next week, but really, what other options are there? Eventually, it will cease to exist, for one reason or another. Be glad you got to spend 7-8 years being entertained for free. Emotionally, I left sloth and my characters behind a long time ago. I've spent a lot more years on sloth than I have any other pasttime I've had, and for that I'm thankful. If and when they decide not to bring it back up, I'll go find something else to spend my time on. My obituary isn't going to list my accomplishments on sloth, and I won't be giving my family the best life I can because of the effort I put into sloth. The people are enjoyable to be around, and the game keeps me entertained. Neither the admin nor the game owes me anything for the time I've spent on it, though.

I just hate when Splork gets serious. Always gotten me into a bit disadvantageous position, compared to other players *and* to my former self :)
