CP's without forges?

Postby jezer » Wed Dec 17, 2008 10:18 am

In the past I've sometimes popped eq and given it away or sold it to the shop thinking that I didn't need it, only to find it's an important forge cp later.

You can't easily search inside all the forge lists on the eq list to see if a component is used in a forge... so... last night, with a little bit of help from 'wget' I used a script to download all the information in the popup html windows about forges and all there components.

I was specifically looking for "Conch Shell" which id's as a cp, only to find it's not in any of the forge lists I downloaded.

I know there are some cp's in the game not used in any forges... but on the other hand I've heard rumours of forges that no one knows about yet.

I'm wondering if any one knows about the conch shell, and maybe if there is a forge in underdark somewhere we haven't found. The couch shell has +2 ma regen, and if it id's as a cp, and it is infact in a forge, it could quite possibly be a nice item.

I wish I could remember - I made some sort of forge with it many years ago - I remember only because it was the last cp I needed. Whether it was an autoquest type item.. although I think it was long before 'autoquests' existed. Perhaps an item that has since been withdrawn? Or a forge not done for years, like gnarled staff of warlocks or something like that.. My point is that it definitely does or did belong to a known forge, it's not unassigned. Sorry I can't help you further.

as far back as i can remember we have had autoquests, although in the beginning we called them weekly forges where some usually really nice item was available only for a week then the forge mob was taken down. sometimes the imms would forget to remove the cps or would recycle some of the cps into other forges.

Nah don't think it was a weekly - I seem to recall wanting that conch for quite some time.

Seems Weaselie was onto it. Pity the weapon is fairly crap compared to some others. Also a derivative on the eq list, of the same name suggests that it has been retired.

Knarled Staff of the Warlocks 3d4 +1 +0 +1 Str, Fireball Proc MM MC [AND] Forged

---------------------------------------------------------------

If you visit a hunter who seeks out witches and warlocks, you may wish
to ask him about his quest. For he is the one you need to start you on
your way to making a better tool to fight off witches.

Once you have visited this hunter, you will need a few things to make
this great mystical staff. If you combind, a potion that is set on
fire, a knarled staff used by a warlock, wand with powers of fire,
and a conch shell that has been sawn off to be used as a horn the
enchantment can take place. You must also provide the enchanter
with a gown made of flowing red satin as part of the fee.

Ah ok, so it [i:1lo7asza]was[/i:1lo7asza] the gnarled staff of the warlocks :)

Yeah, would be nice to have that staff beefed a little bit - from memory, the proc rarely fired, and it's only a fireball when it does fire. Also seemed to always be the first item looted when corpsed.

Can say the same for the enchanted staff of storms (was an autoquest) 2D6 +2dam +1wis +lightning bolt proc, but that proc never seemed to fire. I actually wonder if it's broken?

I might even use them again if they worked a little better.. *HINT*
