I'm thinking about making a slothmud Myspace page and start a gaming group to possibly attract some players from the gaming genre.

Your suggestions, input, and ideas for content would be appreciated as would an indication of just how many of you use Myspace in the first place.

No problems, Akasha!
Put there as much tits as possible and you're teh winner.

PS. How's that LiveJournal community? Just claimed or somebody ever wanted to run it?

PPS. I think Facebook and other "social networks" are bad idea. Those, who lurk in there, are not interested in mudding. They interested in getting a life, even by participating in illusion of it. Mudders are already in muds, all they need is just to be lured to our one, which can be achieved by raising MUD Connector rating. Voting is the key.

And moar, those social networks like LJ and Facebook (included, but not limited), as well as many MMORPG, is full of faggots, who represent everything bad: stupidity, greed, racism, lust, untolerance and much more. There is a reason why those people surfing Internets all days long. Do we really want them come here? Focus on MudConnector is my advice.

I don't think Akasha's idea is too bad. Although I must say, I think most myspace people have moved onto facebook these days... esp in Europe/Oceania.

MudConnect is only going to be found by mudders... most of whom probably already know about sloth. I think a good idea would be one outside of that cycle... broaden the horizons so to speak.

I totally agree with Akasha's idea but I think that there's more to the story.

We need to be much more proactive with any newbie's to keep them here.

I'm thinking specifically of thing like by giving advice and assisting them with equipment and money to get those first few levels.

For a complete newb those first few levels (up to about L8 ) are pretty daunting (especially if you get killed) as you have no gear no spells and no money.

It's not that hard to spend an hour or so with then explaining how the mud works which areas are appropriate for them to be in and popping them a gold chain or a token for a light and perhaps buying them some rudimentary gear and a weapon.

We should all make an effort to "adopt" each newb who comes and amke them feel welcome and comfortable to ask questions.

Speaking about helping newbs getting eq/money - would be nice to put back coins on kittens and ferrets in Newbatia town, those are first mobs a player tries to kill and he/she still need cash to level up. Do you really expect new-comers to find out fast about 'subdue' and animal market dealer? Weakest mob with coins is female-citizen, but she isn't a guaranteed kill for 1 level char, especially casters.
Also, can anyone add an "target=_blank" to an image at which we click when we vote. This adds usability, i think.

We don't like putting coins on animals that shouldn't be carrying them. Yes, we know there are examples scattered around the mud that we'd like to correct.

We are looking at ways to get more coins available to true newbies as we believe your suggestion is valid.

Thanks,

Clinke
