Never played WoW. Does it cost much now (subscription to their server I mean)? - and is there any point starting this late in the game - I imagine there's like millions of players with very advanced level characters, so I'm thinking a noobie wouldn't stand a whelk's chance in a supernova there.

I was but I enjoy the fact I don't have to do quest to level up on sloth.
Sloth is much more laid back if you just want to have fun.
Sloth is also much better designed, other than being non-graphical.
I no longer play there as I cant justify the $14 a month to play it when I have such a wonderful multiplayer experience here.

You can get a 2 week trial at your local Walmart for $1.00. If you like it, 20 bucks will buy the original game and extra 20 if you want the Burning crusade expansion. I never played a MMORPG before so i'm not sure if it was like Everquest but perhaps they were similiar in nature. Maybe it's based on taste but as a newbie, it's been fun...least all the "clues" I need to help with quests in the game are online. They had a huge update last weekend that added alot of stuff and I'm still on the original..haven't forked out 20 for the expansion yet. Not sure how it compares to G _ _ _d W_ _ _s
or W_ _h_mm_r. I think someone has posted about becoming addicted to WOW..I can see why...

http://zip.4chan.org/v/res/21592423.html
(might be unavailable very soon)

1. My experience of WOW was playing the free trial, rolling a human Paladin, having "buffs plz" being the only kind of communication anybody ever used on me, and then basically having a party form, only for the members to all quickly leave as they finished their induvidual objectives, with no thought of helping anybody else out. I don't particularly mind playing alone, since it gives me time to do things at my own pace, but if you're going to form a party you should have the common courtesy to stay until the party has fulfilled its objective to the satisfaction of each member. The sheer rudeness and selfishness of the average WoW player was what turned me off that game.

2. The problem with WoW (indeed, most MMOs) is that the player base is shit. You'll be hard pressed to find even a single decent player, and it's close to impossible to find a group consisting of only decent people. I mean, all the grindan and all that is one thing, but the players themselves, that's the biggest issue by far. It's like some of them co-op games: Shit when played by yourself, fun if you get someone to play with you, even worse than shit if the one you're playing with is a f*ing idiot. The players are the true cancer on MMOs.

3. Endless dungeon crawl full of brain-dead AI mobs. Spam whatever your class spams, spend 30 seconds reading WoW Wiki to find out what to do on the bosses, and don't be retarded.

4. I play WoW but I am going to stop soon. The funny thing is whenever I play it, I feel half-asleep. Not kidding, I feel like falling asleep on my keyboard whenever I play it.

5. Being a noob in wow is probly the most fun one can have in this game cause there are so many areas to explore and it all looks cool, but once that's over it all devolves into repetitive grinding and drudgery, the idea of raiding the same place over and over and over and over and over for some faggot charm to make me 0.5% better and joining a guild, who requires all your waking time and dedication to get said charm just makes me sick to think that someone would actually make a game like this.

And so on.
That's what ppl say.
All those MMORPG is just timesink.
And btw, Lineage has better overall design and character design in particular and BIGGER BOUNCY DARK ELVEN BOOBS ! :D

It's not late to start playing it, Blizzard is releasing a new expansion on November, 13. They are going to add a new continent and raise the level cap up to 80 from 70, so it's actually the best time to play because everyone will have to get the new gear anyways etc.

And no, WoW isn't only about stupid farming. Raiding and PvP requires attention and skills. And what's great, it actually requires the teamplay.

I believe it's quite cheap, not sure about the prices for USA version tho.
From Russia with love.

LOL.. WoW are bushpigs next to Lineage.. are those pics a true reflection of the games in general though (as far as graphics go) or is it the best graphics of Lineage being compared against the worst of Wow?

Not sure about WoW, but for Lineage yes, it is real ingame screenshots.
But if Google Images, YouTube and official WoW site can be treated as reliable source of info - yes, WoW is ugly as hell...

Woman arrested for killing virtual husband

A Japanese woman has been arrested after she allegedly killed her virtual husband in an online game.

Maplestory /Maplestory

The 43 year old was apparently furious at finding herself suddenly divorced in the game Maplestory, reports the BBC.

Police say she illegally accessed login details of the man playing her virtual husband, and killed off his character.

The woman, a piano teacher, is in jail in Sapporo waiting to learn if she faces charges of illegally accessing a computer and manipulating data.

She was taken to Sapporo - where her "husband", a 33-year-old office worker lives - from her home in Miyazaki 620 miles away.

If charged with the offences, and convicted, she faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.

A Sapporo police official said the woman had used the man's ID and password to log into the game last May to carry out the virtual murder.

"I was suddenly divorced, without a word of warning. That made me so angry," she was quoted by the official as telling investigators.
