All hail King DeGrance II

IN THE BEGINNING….
For centuries, the lands were embroiled in bitter struggles over the Seed of Njor. As King Arivan of the empirical city of Kara’sa held the relic, so did the legendary capital of Jord prosper for centuries under the mage-king’s rule. However, other kings in rebel kingdoms longed for the power of the Seed and joined forces in what has become known as the loose union of the Order of the Black Rose. Led by the powerful general of the Kingdom of Sardauker , General Oth, the Order of the Black Rose’s army laid waste to much of Kara’sa’s empire.
The War of the Black Rose went on for generations, causing the loss of many lives on both sides. The war continued for so long that for some, a life of bloodshed was all that was known until the young Prince Degrance I was elevated to the ruler ship of the rebel kingdoms. A wise man much beyond his years, King Degrance I sought out the ancestors of those known as the Celestials to seek their guidance in bringing peace to the world. The Celestials were saddened in their discovery of the world’s condition. Almost torn asunder, the entire planet lay in waste from the War that had drug on for centuries. The Celestial Council decided to set in motion the Cleansing.

THE CLEANSING
According to mortal historians, the Cleansing is referred to as the Cataclysm. The Cleansing was planned as a guise to trick mortals into destroying the world as punishment for their petty bickering. In doing this, they enlisted the efforts of greedy mortals to collect pieces of a timeless relic that promised them power and superiority. Upon completion of the Armageddon Clock, the world was torn asunder.
It was during this period that the Celestials came down from their godly realm and struck down the vile ruler Arivan of Kara’sa. His misuse of the Seed of Njor’s power disgusted the Celestials, and as such, they cursed the city of Kara’sa to be inhabited til the end of eternity with their undead spirits.
Seeing the true concern for the planet in DeGrance I, the Celestials left the city of Bal Harbor untouched after the Cleansing. As a result, the survivors flocked to Bal Harbor as a safe refuge from the horrible beasts that now inhabited the world.
During the reign of DeGrance I, the city of Bal Harbor maintained a peaceful trade with its neighboring nations. Prosperous times they were with port city of Bal Harbor a central point in the world where all travelers visited frequently. However, DeGrance I soon grew old and became ill with an unknown illness that struck him down suddenly and confined him to his terminal deathbed, leaving his only male heir DeGrance II to take over as King of Bal Harbor............................

I love any background to the game, very nice.

So King DeGrance I is ill? I say get a shortsword, chop off his head, and raise him.

It's funny to have sick people in a world where even the smallest heroes can remove curses, diseases, and poisons then can heal or regeneration. If he's a good king, lets set up a volunteer corps to continually cast 'chronos incantation' to keep him young and fit.

Still, it's great to tie together different areas within a larger storyline. This looks interesting.

Awesome that you're working on enhancing background and I'd be glad to see anything new in the mix. As far as the disease thing goes...to avatar: there are diseases like leprosy that can't be cured and must heal on their own in game...thus he could be diseased with something of the like but uncurable, etc...so anyway, thanks akasha for the contributions. Sad that people have to criticize when an imm tries to integrate something new and give us a bit of variety in our mudding. I look forward to the continuation.

This sounds big.. I've noticed strangers wondering around, and not just in BH either.. methinks spies are about and forces are gathering, and I get the feeling DeGrance II ain't a chip off the ole' block either.. oedipus complex perhaps? Time will tell.. bring it on Akasha!

Little is also known about Degrance's bastard twin sons. While many an oaf would step forward upon the King's demise to attempt deceit and claim a piece of the pie, only Billy and Little Titus Degrance (as they are known in small circles) could only reallyhold such a strong claim to the thrown should
something foul befall Degrance II. Now how the two twins came to hate each other is a tale in itself. One being as strong as an oxe and smart to boot, one would think he would be the 'good' one. Not so I tell ye, the other weakling and somewhat cowardly has a heart of gold but he is apt to throw a tempermental fit that keeps most locals away.Not for fear ot being attacked directly but in fear of being poisoned. And he be the good one. Madness I tell ya...

Probably multiple parts, maybe a scavenger hunt for those old parts of the doomsday device. Maybe we could post the sightings of the new stuff, so we are somewhat prepared.
