Trip 40 equipment changes

Postby *Krom* » Mon Aug 27, 2007 12:44 am

Periodically we try and adjust the trip40 eq, the last time was about 5 years ago so some of it is sorely in need of updating. Here is the new list of what will be available and what the stats of each item are. Some items got dropped, if you happen to have one of these you can hang on to it or trade it in for free for another item, but you cannot get that item again. Some items may be re-introduced or new items may be added, but this is the list that will go into affect within the next couple of days. Your existing items, if they gets changed, will be changed automatically.

Exchanges on items will be capped at 1 mil cost until sept.1, at which point they go back to the usual exchange rates.

2)a polished spectrolite charm: clasp for legs, 40 hp, 10 hp regen
3) a maple-leaf brooch: shiftable robe clasp, 20 mana 1 mana regen
4) Axe of Dwarvish Lords: slashing weapon 5d6 +5 hit +1 dex
5) Adamantine Cuirass of the Ancients: body armor 2.7 ac +30 hp
6) Tooled Girdle of Ogre Kings: waiste .6 ac 1 wis +1 to hit
7) Arcane Tome of Power: held low .5 ac +1 dam +8 mv regen
8) Rogue's Dagger: backstab weapon 3d4 +2 str +3 dam + proc

11) Shroud of the Exalted Priest: body armor 2.4 ac 20 mana 2 mana regen

13) The Staff of Ra: light source held high 35ma 4 mana regen
14) Jeweled Gauntlets of the Magi: hands .4 ac 25 mana 2 con
15) Ancient Cincture of Vigor: waiste .3 ac 40 mana 2 str
16) Tower Shield of the Great Lords: shield 1.2 ac 1 dex 1 con

18) Staff of the Magi: renamed from the elders staff, weapon 3d4 +20 mana +3 mana regen + fireball proc
19) Elven Chain Leggings of the Mystic Guard: 1.7 ac 12 spell bonus 12 heal bonus.

Most of the items are intentionally kept fairly generic, although a few will obviously appeal to certain classes/class combinations.

Very good changes as well, in my view.

Now we should be able to expect to see more then just Curaiss's and Shrouds for first pick items :)

Thanks alot Krom! Changes look nice and reasonable.

Though, there's one thing bothering me. Since the AC change, its has become much easier for the most mages to reach spelldam cap with max AC. I find this
[quote="*Krom*":3jf63ifd]
19) Elven Chain Leggings of the Mystic Guard: 1.7 ac 12 spell bonus 12 heal bonus.[/quote:3jf63ifd]
item quite nice, but on the other hand mages who reached their cap already just have no use for it, or any other good trip40 item, just because they have nothing to improve...

It's all about consolidating what you need, a slot that packs in ac and spelldam could free up a slot for healbonus, or mana, or regen, or dam, and probably more.

I like the sound of that, cap goes up, more damage, cap goes down, more mana/regen, hurrah :)

Some really cool improvements. Works well with some of my current
chars :)

Also wanted to know, will newer stuff for Bards, Monks, and Necro be added?

I'll be sure to get the eqlist updated as soon as possible, which might be this weekend. I've got a buisness trip and 2 fantasy football drafts this week, so I might not be able to get to it before then.

I agree with all the 3x40 eq changes.. save this one.

I must say, this is dissapointing to see. For years the only low dam was a horribly difficult forge requiring weeks of cycling. Most would agree that forging a scarab was a right of passage for most thieves in Sloth. I can remember a few years back that Medios & Deju were teasing me "if you don't have a scarab, you're not really a thief!". I would have to agree, and for that reason of gaining respect of my peers meant that I too must quest for such an item. Any bot can get to 3x40, just because you have the XP does not mean you have the experience. There are many lowbie thief chars out there whom have nfc wtf they are doing and still do not understand the concept of attaining 18/100 str.

Also, before I bother to start. Is there going to be an equivalent made also to make the Ars-Magic useless in the future as well?

I agree with autolycos about the high forges. They should be hard because they are so powerful. I also think the list is a bit thief heavy. held low, dagger, and belt are all impressive thief items.
The list shows good thought overall and hard work. Thank you for that!

One of the complaints the last time 3x40 eq was upgraded was that the Staff of Ra had become more powerful than a 5x40 could get on their light (4mr/30 mana vs 4mr/25 mana). Here it is 5 years later, we're going through a 2nd upgrade of 3x40 eq, the Staff of Ra gained 5 more mana, and 5x40 stats still have not been addressed. I was hoping that would be part of the 3x40 eq upgrade, but it doesn't appear that it has. As far as I know, 5x40 light stats have never been changed from what they were when the first avatar reached 5x40. I know there was talk about upgrading those stats, especially to add new class abilities as options, but it's never been done. Can any immort comment on when we can have that? Depending on the changes, it's possible that it would affect what 3x40 eq I would be looking at.
