Pthieves, Builders Port, and Immortals -- The Bottom Line

Postby Akasha » Sun Apr 15, 2007 10:48 pm

In reply to the debate taking place over pthieving immts, allow me to clear this up for everyone. Immortals on the active game port are held to rules preventing them from participating in suspect or unacceptable behavior due to the fact that they have access to live character information and live area information. Builders on the builder's port are not held to these same strict guidelines because the area samples provided on the builder's port are old files with little up-to-date information and NO active mortal players to spy on. Very few, if any, builders become active immortals on game site. Those that do are held to the same principles as any other immortal. One of our guidelines in determining whether anyone (builder or active mortal) is allowed to become an immortal on the game site is their behavior throughout their gaming career. As such, a known past pthief has very little chance of becoming an immortal, and a current, active pthief has no chance of becoming an immortal on game site.
The builder's port was designed to give players with questionable pasts, and players who do not want the responsiblity of being a fulltime immortal, the chance to contribute something positive to the future of Sloth. However, builders whose behavior on game site is excessively abusive or harassing to the quality of game play for everyone else are also subject to losing their builder privileges. Each case is handled on a case-by-case basis in these situations. Each and every person who is willing - and able - to put forth an effort to enhance some aspect of the game is afforded the opportunity to do so on the builder's port.

Regarding pkilling pthieves. The decision to place a temporary hiatous on pthieving might become permanent, but there has been no decision as of yet to make it a permanent restriction. If the decision to reinstate allowed pthieving is made, I'm almsot positive these "retired" pthieves would once again become active. As such, we have imposed no such ban on pkilling known pthieves as of the current time. A player who has pthieving characters who wishes to play legitimately now is afforded the chance to make a new character, or use a character that is not known as a pthief and will be protected by the same rules as any other character. In other words, if Bo and Luke are the same player, but Bo is a pthief and Luke isn't... anyone caught pkilling Luke will be subject to the same punishment as any other illegal pkilling, Bo, on the other hand, is still fair game. If the ruling on pthieving changes (becomes permanent or otherwise), a decision will be made at that time regarding how to treat such situations.

score
Wts ~ (level: 9)
...
(never pthieved with this char before)

You gossip-- 'hee hee, you guys can't pkill me no more'

Yinao gossips-- 'wanna bet :)'

You gossip-- 'read the crier yinao =)'

Yinao tells you 'i can still make alts to pkill you :)'
Yinao tells you 'fyi if they get wiped woopdy doo :)'
Yinao tells you 'wouldnt matter as long as i got your eq and junked it all
anyways :)'

You tell Yinao 'but dude..i have no eq =('

Yinao tells you 'well if you start playing again your sure to get some :)'
Yinao tells you 'it wouldnt be too hard i know imms that can log ips'

May I know what the MUD's current policy is on that? I really do want to rejoin as a normal player but I'm not going to risk it if people like Yinao can threaten me like that, especially when claiming he can trace me down with an immort's help.

*smirk* And I have heard you have tried to pthief with that char......So I will ask this question, is that why you never leave VK inn? For me its worth risking and alt to see if you have :)

Don't be ridiculous. This possibly temporary ban on pthieving is not going to be an opportunity for you to put some levels on your pthief chars in case the ban is later lifted.

If I see any of your pthief alts outside a safe zone, I'm coming for you. Period.

If you want to play, start a char without thief or bard in classo and don't bother to tell us its you. Easy enuff, no?

Okay, but I don't think it's up to you to decide.

Here, my char name is Pulp. It used to have no thief/bard in it but I've changed my mind and now it's a thief bard. I'm doing it because I felt like playing a thief bard, and I shouldn't be restricted to a classo that doesn't have either of them just because you told me not to do it. I'm telling you, this is my alt. You don't run the MUD, don't tell me what to do.

I don't need more pthief chars anyway, I've got a 3x40 and 2x40 to pthief with if that part of the MUD comes back.

Nah, I'm not worried. I spoke to Akasha about it and I'm going to continue playing Pulp. Let's group!

Go group with your mom. You've accepted your path of pthief (your own words from another topic) so live with it and shut up.

Er, right. I would if my mom played here.

Anyway, I'm going to take the advice of several players who are encouraging me to continue playing. I'm just going to make a character and keep quiet about my identity. I think it's pretty pointless if nobody let me in groups and I soloed the whole game.

I don't know what exactly I've done for you to say 'shut up' because that's precisely what I'm doing. The immorts have come up with a new rule that now protects me and yes, I will shut up and play the game. Looking forward to group to you anonymously =)

I'm not grouping with strangers, especially newly-created or low-levels until them prove to be alts of those i know personally.
Every classo that has access to Steal skill less than 4x40 counted to me as pthief, unless i know them personally.
Every 'player' who encourages a known pthief to 'continue playing' counted as enemy.
I change eq only if i'm absolutely sure theres no pthief-threat around.
I have a same-quality replace of almost every eq i wear.
If i see you around - i wont do almost anything. Triggers will do the job.
You lose.

Then shouldn't part of your plan be to shut up and not tell us so we won't start suspecting each lowbie that comes around now? Sheesh, now leaders are gonna have to think twice about helping newbs out. Good work.

I just said that aloud, its already there. What else did you expect after that 'Pthief survival guide'?! Newcomers read forum also, they may try a 'different way of playing' as well.
