stalk vs. lurk

the new lurk feature is cool...but I noticed something the other day...
while stalking I can't be convo'd with the rest of the group, it turns lurk on...I don't see why sneaking/hiding should exclude one from this;not sure if this was planned, but it doesn't seem like it...it seems like lurk would be a much deeper game mechanic than stalk...
