Teach your boy Aaron some manners

Well I guess Karkus/Cocaine ..rl Aaron has a lot of friends on this mud since most the avatars seem to know him by his rl name.

Please teach the boy some manners.

He said he needed some stuff from Olympus and I said I'd tank if he led. He grudgingly said ok and so Elsie and I boated over to Lyme. He rented without a word after I'd started hollering for folks to chop.

I didn't know what I was doing to lead, but I faked it and got a small group together. Luckily Chi took over and led a great group and helped teach me some stuff in the process.

Aaron rejoined the group a few hours later, shortly before Chi turned it back over to me. I offered to transfer to him and he declined. Then when I called target as choirmaster, he said "I'm not sticking around for no boring xp" and immediately recalled and rented.

What the hell is wrong with him? He knows I'm somewhat of a newb when it comes to leading, and I told him I couldn't lead Lyme eq and offered to transfer the group to him. I got the group going in the first place so he could get what he needed from Olympus and I could get a lil xp.

What he really wanted was for someone else to run the group, so he could just bot and call eq for himself. When he didn't get what he wanted, he threw a tantrum.

I'm not the most mature person on the mud by far, but at least I'm generally friendly. What's the point in playing, if not to have fun and enjoy each others company?

I can totally understand your frustration, since I have boated before only for Aaron to be afk for hours, or log off. However real life usually dictates when we can play the mud and sometimes we have to log off with short notice.

As far as Aaron only wanting to bot and get eq. I feel that DoW leads just as much as anyone. This includes Aaron who has been leading with Cocaine as of late. It seems lately that unless Minstrel , Krok or Bit is leading, nothing will get done. I applaud your leading and fully understand the difficulties therein. That said you have to realize alot of us are damn tired of chopping. Its slow, everyone is a healer, and the whole popping specs thing isnt cool to start a group. I always hear Aaron bitching about chop , even for eq. Im surprised that he even joined in the first place to be honest.

If it makes you feel any better, Aaron has always been coarse. Its one of the major reasons everyone knows him. If you want a decent example, I was part of a group that was running xp in ettins with him leading. He went afk just as Splork noticed that his gjob was set to something vulgar... I don't recall what exactly, but I think he dropped an F-bomb or two. Splork gave him about 30 seconds to change the gname...

Aaron came back from AFK to a dead character.

For all the warnings, all the punishment that he's endured, and all the criticism, he's never changed. I think he puts notches above his bedpost of the number of times he's been noshouted... and I'm surpised he's still got a place to sleep.

He's actually one of the better leaders and players in the game. Generally he's pretty hard to piss off and doesn't take too much personally. He's also one of the more generous players I've run into, donating some pretty decent eq to me back in the days I was still trying to get my footing in the game.

So, that's my opinion of Aaron. I have no idea how he was ever allowed to have an immortal. I have no idea how he managed to learn the game without getting permanently banned for language and pthieving... but he did. He can be unpredictable and self-centered. He can also be a damned nice person to have around in a pinch. Go figure.

My recommendation: Don't take too much he does personally. He knows what he's doing though. If you're lost and confused, he's usually able to straighten you out.

not an exageration, an alt of mine called Cocaine boring on gossip once (I think I said a bit more too but all to the effect of the same), 5 mins later I'd had been left for dead as an alt of his stood over my corpse and gossiped boasting of how he'd slept blinded etc me in an aggro area.

That said he did raise me (at almost exactly the last second), and while still whining on continually about how it was all my own fault, did offer to spell me up (iron aegis etc ... big deal).

So in my opinion aa is a boring self centred selfish arrogant conceited coarse rude pkilling player, personally I don't like him.
However, he does know Sloth far better than most other players and I'll join any group he runs that I can because I know I'll get xp / whatever out of it.

The first post in this thread mentioned me as having sailed to join a chop group he was going to run ... as my name was mentioned in passing I ought to say it wasn't a big deal to me I sailed to join a forming group that didn't happen, it not the first and won't be the last time.
