Where have all the good times gone?

I know this may bring flames. I really am not interested.
I started mudding on sloth back in the very very early 90's. On Sloth II, I was Drew. On Sloth III, I have at least three main characters.
I have seen lots of changes on Sloth, including the growth of it's fan base and how many new players there are.
I was impressed for quite some time by this mud.
Now, just like most things, I am sickened by it.
There weren't clans when this mud started.. in fact, I think one of the players I know personally and introduced to this mud, spawned some of the ideas for clans. Now, clans have become nothing short of cliques. Ways for people to exclude others and shun people they don't personally like. They are also ways for people to bully other players.
Which brings me to my next subject. There are people on this mud that make it hard to enjoy for many other characters. Other characters that don't want to say anything because they would rather just have a good time without the confrontation. Which is wise, because of the impact of the cliques on the mud.
And third, the immorts turn a blind, non challant eye to almost all of the rules, provided that the "right person" has committed the infraction.
Otherwise, LOOK OUT.
All I can say at this point is, where do I vote? Because I would like to vote for my favorite mud!

Alexus and Van were fighting over Elemental School and Alexus starting harassing him until he pkilled her.

Neither of them corpsed. No one was punished.

This mud has always been about who you know. Thats one of its coolest
features -- clans only enforce this.

There will always be bullied and bullies.
There will always be the shunned and the shunners. (I refuse to use shunnied!)

Cliques started forming between classes thousands of years ago, and still do it to this day -- I mean "why not?".

If you enjoy pkilling, keep it amongst your fans. Because it is against the rules on this mud, which is part of why this mud is popular.

The best part about this thread is this. Whether Alexus likes the mud or not, the sun will still rise tomorrow morning and set again in the evening.

I guess I'm just tired of dealing with people at work, so I apologize if this sounds a little frustrated. What's the point though? Can't we deal with interpersonal problems ourselves? In any group of people, there will be some that don't get along with others. If you don't get along with someone, it's a large mud there should be room to avoid certain people. Alexus, I've grouped with you and always enjoyed it. I'm sure there are a lot of people here that you get along with.

So, stick with the people you like. Take a chance sometimes on people that you haven't played with in the past. Avoid the people you know you don't enjoy being around.

Everyone expects a little argument or fight once in awhile. Sometimes both people in an argument have a valid viewpoint and both have some reason to be angry. Still, it's a game and most people come here to have fun. If you forgive the other person, it's quite possible that you may enjoy their company in the future.
