Off-topic:
I've been playing a different little online game for the last two or three days. It's not a mud but has mud-like tendencies. Anyway, they do a few things that might make life easier on sloth. Groups / followers are more dynamic. The leader can pass the group to another person anytime. Also, the group doesn't disband when the leader disconnects. The next person in line becomes the leader automatically.

Not sure you would want sloth to work like that, with the possibilities for CF'age, but it sure makes playing much easier.

Those sound reasonable to me. The group leader could set a flag saying "this group will disband if I leave" or "this group will pass to the next person if I leave"; you could have a "group transfer autolycos" command, sure.
