Holy Eq - Time For Upgrade?

Hmm... I gotta a newbie I am looking to get to -8 on VK. Currently -7.4. I figure I can do this with a few more items and some holy eq. So I look at the holy eq list... In just about everycase eq I can wear at Ad restricts has a better armor class than all of the holy eq items except for....

Holy Shroud Neck -0.8ac, +20 Hps
Holy Sceptre Held Low -0.7 AC
Holy Greaves Legs -1.6ac, +1 Con
Holy Sandals Feet -0.4ac, +1 Str +3 Mvregen

Some of the holy eq items are just lame to my eyes like the following.

Holy Ring Finger +20 Mana, +1 Int
Holy Gauntlets Hands -0.3 ac, +1 Dam, +20 Moves
Holy Sleeves Arms -0.5ac, +1 Dmg +10 Mana
Holy Halo Head -1.2ac, +1 con +1 Str
Holy Wings On Body -1.5ac, +1 dmg +25 mvs

-1.2 helms are easy to get. -0.3 rings a snap. -0.4 hands available and often sold at auction. Granite Bracers are a frustrating pop, but even the holy sleeves are about as useful as a pair of onyx sleeves. -1.5 on body!!!LOL who doesn't start off with a -2.3 mystic plate mail?

I'm not sure at what type of player the holy eq system is meant to be focused at, but at a 1x40+ level getting holy eq seems fairly pointless. Holy eq becomes there for "stat boosting bad rolls" and emergencies.

Is it time to have "1x40 holy eq", "avatar holy eq", "newbie holy eq."

Hmm, just some thoughts... What are your opinions?

You don't even need holy gear to get -8 on vk.....i have a vk char with -8.1 or sumtin

Each of these is a +dam item. If you compare them to other +dam items, they're actually not that bad. I'm pretty sure I've used gauntlets and sleeves pretty commonly with newbie thieves.

There's more to the game than just AC. Most thieves only keep AC as high as they can without sacrificing damage.

"HOLY" not equal "VK restricted"

Lots of the holy eq is kickass combos and can be used at any levels, including 5x40 tards.

-0.3 +dam gloves
-1.2 +con +str helm

I wish we have ok if not such regular ingame eq, but at least forges, hard, very hard or impossible hard - no matter.

Yes, dam eq has lower ac, I'm ok with that. I find I only want holy eq for its ac properties though. There is generally easy to get "as good" +dam eq in the game. Hence I think the holy dam eq is under powered. Hmm, what about spicin' it up and giving holy eq some sort of cool proc? Just an idea.

You guys with -8 Valkians... mine posting what you wear to make -8ac? I've been through the eq list and figure I can only make -7.7 without quest/forge/holy eq.

Actually, JJDisk is forged eq, but it's VK forge so I guess you should work on it if you want to get this ac. Robe of Fobidden Ceremonies is elite eq, but this mode just for necro-prime and wa-prime can wear regular ingame robe with -0.5ac (anyway you should have 20lev in one of the non-caster class to wear all this eq.)

The troll hide are cool newbie eq. You can also use the thick iron gaunts (-.4) if you have warrior in classo. I've heard of -9 Valkers, but I don't think I've met one yet. Honestly, at -8 you're pretty much good to tank any mob on Valk except the raging elemental (not including shopkeepers, guildmasters, etc).

The holy shroud is a great shortcut item for an extra .3, but unless you're on top of the list, good luck holding onto it. The holy sceptre for an extra .2 and isn't as good, but is more reliable. It's also handy if you don't have an obsidian pearl lying around for the JJD forge.

Also, Yasik isn't kidding about the +dam gloves. I think I used them a few times as a 2x40 thief so that I could get to -8.0 in max damage.

Thanks for the tips people.

Turns out my -7.4 was with onyx sleeves and not granite bracers. Also silver leg plates instead of troll hide leggings. That gets me to -7.9. I need JJD or a Glinting Shield to get me across the line! I can use holy eq for now.

BTW iron skin potions pop in the thieves hideout and coliseum hence I guess you could get to -9 for a while.
