possible bug with cursed equipment?

I seem to be having a problem maintaining the curse spell on various parts of my equipment. I haven't been able to figure out exactly when my equipment loses its curse but it appears it may only be happening to my equipment that has a clasp attached to it. Here are some log exceprts:

<worn on head> a mithril knight's helmet..It glows red! (with a breathing
charm attached to it)
<worn on legs> the greaves of war..It emits a faint humming sound! (with a
fish-scale buckle attached to it)
rem greaves;
You stop using the greaves of war.

Granite Way
This street is the main north to south route through the dwarven city
of Settlestone and connects at either end to the massive gates of the city.
The street itself is paved in cut granite cobblestones and is kept up quite
nicely by the transportation authority. Two busy merchant shops border this
section of the street to the east and west.

Settlestone Supplies
You are in a large all-purpose supply shop. This is where the dwarves of
Settlestone buy most of their things. The shelves are well stocked with all
manner of useful items. Young dwarven children run around looking at all
the fine merchandise. You can hear a constant buzz of voices from the west
out by the village well.
Exits: West
At your entrance a young supply merchant gives you a friendly smile.

Notice my helmet is no longer cursed.
