Open letter thread

Postby 13 » Mon Jun 27, 2005 7:04 pm

Feel free to write an open letter to anyone who pisses you off.

Dear AT&T,
Please do not ever call my house again. I have received nothing but
shit service and spam phone calls. Your customer service person was
barely able to speak enlish and gave poor advice to boot.
The perfect blend of poetry and meanness..

Dear Tuk,
I don't know why you thought that it was acceptable or appropriate to
sign people from the wizlist up for spam email, but it is not. I have been
receiving (along with others) about 6-8 emails a day trying to sell me
Cialis and other prescription drugs, mostly in the viagra category (laugh).
I cannot speak for the other recipients, but I can promise you that if I ever
see you ingame on Sloth again your character will die and be pushed into
a safe zone, if not the dump. This is total bullshit and 100% unacceptable.
Jake says there's nothing he can do about it, even though I am no longer
Elwood@slothmud.org, so you pretty much have it comin'.

Your Pal,
Aaron

**EDIT - Ok, Jake did fix it finally, but I am still pretty damn mad about it and plan to give you a good cussing at least.

Most likely it wasn't Tuk's fault here. They only showed tuk in the "TO: column because it was the first in batch of emails they are spamming to. (Spammers often break emails up into groups of addresses and thats where this spam list gets broken up at. The first one gets the "TO:" option, the rest get "BCC").

The most likely cause for getting your name added to spam lists is posting your email address in public forums (like what you've done here), newgroups or public email lists.

Once you're on a list it's nearly impossible to be removed.

Dear British Telecom

Many thanks for having some of your engineers dig a big hole in the pavement outside my house and bugger up my phone line, so I can neither use my broadband nor dial-up. I especially appreciate having to go through a 30-minute IVR system to report the cock-up only to be told by your automated message that an engineer wont be available for 5 days. Your brilliant idea of me typing in my mobile number so an advisor can "call me back within 45 minutes" would work a lot better if someone actually bothered to do it.

Anytime I ring up to complain, I get to sit on hold for an hour because "you are experiencing exceptionally high call volumes" then I get cut off.

All I can say is, if, like your advert states, "last year 1 million customers went back to BT", then there were a damn sight more lobotomies performed here in the last 12 months than i thought possible.
